How did you meet your better half?

I always love to hear how folks hooked up. So I will start off.

I was using ICQ back in December of 97 and it pinged me about an upgrade. So I did the upgrade and it asked if I was male or female and age range. So I went ahead and filled it out. About 1 hour later I started getting messages from females (or at least they said they where). I asked one what the deal was and she told me how she found me. So I said what the heck and I started looking for females in my age range that where online.

Talked to several and spoke to one with the handle Kami. We talked and she told me she had a 2 year old girl and 4 year old girl and that her husband had been killed in motorcycle accident. I was so saddened to hear about that and thought to myself well if she pings me back on another day I would have a friend online.

Well we started talking everyday. We would spend hours each evening talking and even during the day since she owned her own pharmacy. I ended up giving her my phone # and she would call me at night and we would talk and I talked to the girls. This really broke my heart because hearing mommy talk to a guy and then they talked to me they always told me they loved me daddy.

Towards the middle of January it was decided I would fly out and spend a week with her. She was in the middle of selling her pharmacy to Ekerds and was going to be going to work for them for at least 6 months as part of the deal. So here I go flying out to New Jersey from Kansas. I get there and no one is like at the gate waiting with a sign or anything. I kind of started freaking out, but againts the wall I saw Kathie and her best friend Kathie and the 2 girls.

When I walked up to them and said hi then looked at Jackie (4) and said you must be my little Jackie she ran and jump in my arms and hugged me. Her mom kind of freaked out on that since I came to find out Jackie would not talk to any males only her dad. She was daddys girl. So I spent a week with them and had to get the family drilling into my life with 2000 questions.

When it was time to go home I had caught a cold in my eye. Stephanie slept next to me in the king size bed and coughed in my face alot since she got sick while I was there. Flight home got delayed and I finally told them to go ahead and leave since it was getting late and I flew home a couple of hours later. Nothing like driving a 4th Gen home with one eye leaking badly, not being able to hear at 12:00AM at night. Was a 2 hour drive from the airport to my house.

So we keep talking all the time, seemed like a lifetime. Learning so much about each other it seemed like we had been together for years. So it was decided she would come out and visit me for Valentines Day. So I drove back up to Kansas City and my best friend and I waited for her plane to land. Well it did not come and we found out it had been canceled but Kathie had my buddies # and called and told us she was taking many different flights to get to us. She finally got in and we all went back to my friends and his wife's house and hungout.

The next day we where driving driving back to my place in Kansas when I stopped at a stop light, opened my glove box and gave her a ring box and said "Here see if this fits" She opened it up got a little teary eyed, put in on and said yes.

So we went about trying to find a house in Manhattan KS and found one being built but not far enough along that we could spec out our counters and all kinds of stuff. So on May 9th 1998 I married my lovely wife in Cape May Court House NJ. On May 15th I moved into our new house and we had Stephanies 3rd birthday in our new house. Then a week later my wife and our 2 children went back to New Jersey for 6 months. Remember she had a 6 month contract with Ekerds. So for 6 months I was real lonely not even having a roomate. But we talked everyday and it has been 12 years with the best wife I could of ever asked for. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

We both worked at the same place (20 yrs ago) I was an analyst and he was a programmer assigned to me to design production reports for my department, I was going thru a divorce and worked side by side for almost a year - he helped me get thru it and well, we're still happily together..
