This is why I never want a convertable

http://www.newschannel5.com/Global/story.asp?S=13275997

So many issues here. Unbelievable how many people continue to drink & drive. It is one thing to disregard your own life & safety, but totally unacceptable to disregard that of everyone else in the world. And yes, I know that this poor young couple may have died even if they were in a coupe, but I just feel safer with a roof over my head. The drunk (according to one reporter) actually drove his pickup right over the top of the convertable. The same reporter said the truck had empty beer cans in it & more were in the street by the accident scene. God bless & support the families/friends of these young victims.

I bet he gets a charge against him... like vehicular manslaughter... serves a year per person killed... out in two years. or even less on parole.

This is :(

Worse that the guy was drunk -- they do not have strict drunk driving laws for sht.
Around here, people go to court 4 or 5 times after being arrested for drunk driving before they are ever punished - and we aren't talking a few beers - we are talking sht faced drunk as all hell.

It's sad that someone has to die before you are punished for multiple offenses. Worse that he prob won't get much of a punishment at all.

back in the 60's my mom lost her first husband to a drunk driver - who continued down the road to the bar and kept his binge going after running a man down and leaving him for dead. Bought the sherrif a new Dodge (he was a car dealer) and had to pay a $17 fine for failure to maintain control. Never a day in jail for killing a man while drunk behind the wheel.
