Post your First Car

Well we have threads asking about your first Camaro, current pictures of your cars.

This is about your first car.

What was your first car?

Mine was a 1979 Datsun 280ZX that was dubbed by my friends the Smurfmobile since it was blue and the paint was extremely oxidized, so if you touched the car you too became blue.

That's right boys and girls.... 0-60 in about 7 to 8 minutes.

Step-dad decided I should have my mom's car. The amazing, the incredible, the mighty..... 1984 two-toned chevette.

I couldn't beat any lawn mower in the neighborhood. Oh how it hurts to remember. But the new Camaro will wipe my tears and shame!

Oh, my highschool friends nicknamed my car... "the lawnmover", even though it wasn't as powerful. Oh the humanity....

My first car was a '62 Nova two door hard top with the original 194 straight six and 2 speed powerslush. It was a beater, but I had lots of fun in it, got to love bench seats.

It looked like this one, but a darker blue.

First and current car. Saab 9-5 2.0t.

It's rundown, it's in desperate need of a tuneup, some rustprotection and the sound systems dying. But I love it. It's great great fun to drive. My dads Prius is all comfy and new and okay sound system, but it's so boring to drive. The Saab I still smile when I downshift and do a flyby on the freeway.

First car (dad still owned it, technically, it was his, but no one else drove it, and he bought another car so I could drive this one to school)....'82 Monte Carlo....Burgundy with Carmel (curshed velour) interior....it had an AM only radio in it, but we swapped that out...power everything, except from under the hood....only a 229 V-6....I swear it only made about 5HP....no power, but it rode like a dream, handled fairly well for a car that size (of course, you were never going real fast) and had t-tops. I loved that car. I was going to come back after my first year of college, buy it from my dad and have a buddy install a 350 he had sitting in his garage. Dad traded it one week before I came home for the summer. So then, I was rolling around in a '91 Ford Ranger...4-banger with a 5-speed....nothing special and only moderately faster than the Monte. We also picked up a '91 Berretta that summer (4 drivers going different directions at different times)...fun car, but I would rather have had the Monte.

First car I ever bought on my own....'90 Camaro RS....blue with gray cloth interior...305 V-8, power everything and of course....T-TOPS! I loved that car too.

My first car was a 1984 Porsche 944 that I bought from my uncle when I was 16 and had to sell it after only one year because it would break down almost weekly, all rubber and plastic was deteriorating, almost impossible to fix(gotta love German engineering), and parts were scarce and EXPENSIVE. My gosh its been 2 years since I last saw her, I sure miss her. My friends called it the back to the future car.
