P0430 Code
Mine is a 2011, 1LT with 71k miles (yes, a lot, I know). A couple of years ago I put the K&N CAI on the car and have not had any problems.
Today, the CEL light went on and the diag tool pulled only a single code - P0430. From what I've read, it's indicating a bad cat converter, bank 2. Does anyone know if a bad cat is likely the cause here or could it be something else? Other than the CAI, I have done NO modifications to this car. Otherwise, the car seems to be driving fine, though I have noticed a slight burning smell that comes and goes. I don't smell this very often, however.

O2 codes are usually tricky. Something "upstream" causes the real problem and then the O2 sensor tells that something is wrong with the mixture.
Does the burning smell like sulfur? If so, then the car is adding too much fuel because it thinks that it's lean. Maybe there's a slight exhaust leak before the sensor. It can be caused by a failing O2 sensor too. Do you know of any vacuum leaks?

Thanks for the reply!
The wife drove the car last and said the burning smell happened, then after it went away she did smell sulfur. Since that burning smell is there, I'm doubtful that the O2 sensor is bad. If this an exhaust leak, how would I know? I saw something about a "cigar test". Would that help?

Update:
Odd. I unhooked the CAI filter and re-tightened it to the housing and the CEL went off. I still get whiffs of a burning smell, but not all the time.
