Zl1 rear rotor hat rust.

Hello, I purchased a new 2013 Camaro ZL1 seven months ago. The car has less then 1,100 miles on it. I keep this car in my garage for the most part, but it has been rained on a few times. My problem is that the rear rotor hats are rusting really bad. This is really embarrassing as I go to Camaro shows and have another one coming up soon. This is my fifth new generation 5 Camaro that I have purchased new. It is also the most expensive at close to $ 62,000. Has anyone else had this problem ? Please advise.

I painted my hats with black caliper paint. Matches my black rims better and no rust issues.

I get a little rust after spraying the wheels for cleaning after rinsing, but its just on the brake surface area, and cleans up as soon as I use the brakes. I have no rust in the lug area, or vent area, but I dont use in the rain..

Mine has this issue. This I have heard is a known issue with many 5th generation Camaros. I have also heard that starting with the 2014s (not sure about the ZL1 though) they have fixed the issue by using a different material for the rotors. I was thinking of trying to get new rotors under warranty but like someone stated above I am going to just paint mine for now where it is rusting and see what happens.

I have a 2014 and my rear rotor hubs are rusty.
I bought some silver brake paint, but have not used it yet.
Now that the weather is warmer, application is imminent.

My rear rotor hubs were painted silver at the factory and have no rust after more than a year and 3500km

I had the exact same problem with my ZL1 right off the lot. Both rotor hats were totally rusted with just 23 miles on the vehicle. Dealer planned
to replace but repair was denied by GM regional rep as normal wear. Escalated to GM executive offices which ultimately resulted in replacement of both rear rotor hats as one time "GM Customer Enthusiasm" repair. Good luck!

Same issue with mine. I had them replaced under warranty and my second set are beginning rust. Mine has never seen rain and I am a OCD detailer that cleans regularly and uses compressed air to dry.

Clear coat them if you want. Better than rust and they'll look stock. Or paint them.

Don't see what's so hard about this.

I have rust on my rears as well. Did you prep the rotor hat first before just putting paint on it or did you just simply paint over it?
Also what exact paint did you use?
Thanks

I looked at a brand new ZL1 oh the dealer lot that had rusty rear rotor hats. Salesman said they would not replace them. Bought mine somewhere else!
