Zl1 wheels on 16SS Fitment questions
Hey guys I was wondering if the 6th gen ZL1 style wheels would fit on a 16SS model. If they do would I be able to use my stock tires (goodyear Eagles) on the Zl1 rims or do I need to buy new tires in order for them to fit?

You will need to get new tires in the ZL1 sizes to fit on the wheels. The stock SS sizes will be stretched too much to fit on the wider wheels.

I have the Zl1 rims on my 2017 SS but I have the 285/305 ZL1 tires on them same as 1LE fitment. I don’t think you can fit the stock tires on the rims as they are too wide.

what LT4Greg said and you can put 285/30/20 or 295/30/20 up front 305/30/20 in rear. i have 285/30/20 and they look a little stretched. i dont like that look.

I should have bought a ZL1

Yes JC that’s the size on the front of my ZL1 285/30 and I’m not sure if I could run 295/30s on the front because it’s lower than an SS and might rub on the spring perches. I’m pretty sure I could run a 315/30 in the rear without problems though. Mine isn’t ready for tires yet, so I will do some research when the tires are just about gone!

ZL1 wheels yes, stock SS tires no...One issue you have to check is in the rear driver side wheel well. There is wiring harness behind the liner that would probably need to be moved due to the wider rear tire. It can rub through the liner and then the harness. It has been covered plenty on forum here and there are videos on youtube on what needs to be done to move the harness to a safer spot to accommodate the wider tires

Stock ZL1 rims and tires fit the SS perfectly. If you stay to these sizes you do not need to relocate harness

Even though.......there are PLENTY of people that do use there stock tires on the Zl1 setup and love it. Sure it stretches them but they don't mind. A lot of guys on This forum actually lol.

just because it can doesnt mean it should. its actually illegal in some states for good reason.

Yes kurage, you will enjoy your new wheels with the wider lower profile tires on your Camaro! You will have a difference in handling and the ride will be better too!

yes the rear tire will fit on the ZL1 front no problem. Almost all 275 tires are rated to work on 9-11" rims and most are measured on a 9.5" rim. So 10" is really a perfect size wheel for a 275 or 285 tire and doesn't stretch it at all.
