M5board: ZR1 vs 997.2 Turbo PDK

That was some BAD driving from the ZR1's driver! The PDK is a VERY slick shifting gearbox, so it has an advantage. But i think the ZR1 should easily beat the 997T PDK from a roll. Hell, even a modestly tuned Z06 can easily be comparable to the 997T PDK as you see in these vids:

the turbo does have AWD, another advantage. also... the driver was being driven. you can tell that the corvette was catching up towards the end though

I don't think the start of either race was really fair. Did they do the 3 honks? It seems that one of them just decided to floor it and the other car played catchup.

This is a well known event that takes place in Sweden by a BMW website called M5Board, all races are like this, the cars go side by side till a marked point and then they floor it.

IMO it's a good indicator on what you should expect in a street race, but not a very good indicator of performance as there are too many variables involved. At the end of the day you either win or lose

Porsche does the absolute best job in the world getting power to the pavement. Never under estimate a Porsche. This segment from Top Gear clearly demonstrates exactly that.

IMO for zr1 price i would get a porsche turbo.. may be a few seconds slower on the nurbergring (which i doubt any normal person would be able to pull off in a zr1- or even close) but you get so much more in terms of AWS, status symbol, all the goodies and tech.. and a sexy leather interior

for z06 price i would get a z06 over any porsche that price..
