2019 Camaro LT1 RS, Alternator help

So after months of electrical issues I've found that my Voltage Regulator is bad, explains my voltage hitting 15.2 volts and other days 12.5.... the lady who connected the battery tester to my battery had a huge spark when connecting and said that it's never had to her before and it scared her.

So I need help finding the correct alternator replacement, I'm looking to go used but would like to know if it's possible to get a higher output alternator but nothing drastic, still OEM?

I read somewhere but can't remember where, that a higher amperage Alternator is available. But if not advisable then a direct OEM would be fine.

That is normal.

FYI, replacing the alternator is a PITA and I bought a new one off of RockAuto.com. And I thought my battery was going bad twice but it turns out that if they test the battery under the hood then it gives a false reading and AutoZone thinks it is a bad battery. The charging is normal from what you stated. Good luck and try and not to over think it like I did. Have a good day

So I replaced the alternator with a used one and no change on the voltage fluctuating, the good news is that the voltage isn't riding 15.2 volts anymore. I now have 2 alternators, o Rileys told me to just hang on to the other one, which is factory. What else can I look for that's causing voltage issues.

I have battery corrosion prevention on the negative terminal but noticed that corrosion is accumulated on top of the felt washer that soaked in the preventative, I can not say for sure that's what it is but there is a build up and it's the color of the preventative.

Same comment here. Bought one from RockAuto. Great price and didn't have to ship back the core. If it ever fails again, I'll have someone local refurbish it.

The dealer quoted me $1500. Instead, I bought the alternator for $250ish. That said, the install is a PITA. There are a few shortcuts you can take that makes it slightly faster but don't expect a few hours. Set aside a day and maybe having an extra set of hands is great when you get to unplug/plug part.

And finally, when I put a tester on my battery, the voltage ranges from mid 12's to high 14's. It all is based on load. If you turn on lights and heater/ac, you should see your alternator provide more power. This is all normal behavior.

Those auto places should not be testing charging systems. They didn’t even know how to test my 2012 Honda properly that has a dual mode charging system which is something like what GM uses these days. Tried telling me my alternator was bad. Good thing I knew about the dual mode charging system. There’s been ENDLESS Honda alternators and batteries replaced because of people not knowing how to test these charging systems.
If I needed a new alternator for the Camaro I’d be looking to see if powermaster makes one. But your fluctuations seem normal to me so IDK.

Well, I'm willing to keep going forward and find out the cause of my voltage issues, I'm more less content on the voltage reading higher then normal but it does not explain the negative terminal corrosion. I purchased a knukonceptz V2 battery terminal and the corrosion ate it up, after cleaning off the corrosion the terminal block was black, it originally was tinned silver.

I smelt burning rubber a few months ago and the whole cabin filled with smoke but no trace of wires fried or burnt, only the insulation on the truck wall next to the negative battery terminal.
