Inspection station flogged my car
The guy doing the inspection floored the gas of my car, spun the front tires (since it was front wheel drive), then while doing this had the steering wheel turned to the right. The guy could have damaged the steering rack, damaged the front CV joints, and screwed up the front end in general.
In the future, I am going to SPECIFICALLY ASK IN ADVANCE WHAT THEIR procedure is, and if I don't like it I will leave. I plan to do is go back there and videotape what they are doing, then post it online here and on youtube. Last edited by 2001ragtop; 01-03-2010 at 08:57 PM. |

I would have ripped them a new a-hole. There is no reason they need to treat you and your car like that. I am in Maine and they are pretty stricked about there inspections. They never test drive the car. They go over every part under the car and suspension. There are ways of finding out if the suspension is working. Plus how the heck does he know how the suspension is suppose to feel on that particular car, they are all different. Like I said I would have tore them up!

So their actions were probably not normal, seeing as how in Texas the only reason they have to drive your car is to do a brake test at 20 mph. As in absolutely positivley NO reason what-so-ever to flogg your car. |

They were yanking your chain, ie, lyeing to you. As duder stated, and it true, in Texas there in only a 20 mph break check. The places in town that do inspections have lines painted on the street next to their shop where that do the tests. As long as the car can stop, going 20 mph, within the max distance, its good to go. That is the ONLY reason to drive a car for a safety inspection in the State of Texas, I have lived and been driving there for 36 years. That part as never changed.
