Why my ZL1 is great for the environment!
Ran across this article and laughed.
So if your an eco nut and want to help save the environment....buy a gas guzzler. ![]() http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/...s-guzzler.html

That makes perfect sense.
When I bought my Camaro SS I was collecting my pension and working an at-home part time job. I put less than 3,000 miles on my Sentra the previous year. My oil changes are once a year instead of 5-7K miles. It was pretty easy for me to say "Damn the gasoline expense." Now, if only the EPA could decide that a car that is driven less than a minimum number of miles would be exempted from the A.I.R. test. After I had my battery replaced I actually had to go out and drive more than I usually do to ready the sensors. What a waste.

Interesting, however...
How does a car dealer force someone to buy a car they don't want? Seems like the only thing they could do is lower the price of the gas sipper down to where someone would buy it, but this still is not forcing the sale. The only way to force someone to buy a car they don't want is to raise the price of fuel so high that people can't or don't want to feed a gas guzzler anymore. Kind of like what's happening right now! Just my $ .02

Good news for the Environment!
If you tire of political news, try this .....
Camaro V8 "gas guzzlers" are HELPING the environment says a recent news post. Or is this fake news? Alternative fact? ![]() "If you buy an efficient car, the averages allow carmakers to sell an extra gas guzzler to somebody else. But if you buy the gas guzzler, the averages force carmakers to sell a more efficient car to somebody else." http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/...s-guzzler.html

The other thing I'm wondering, does this average go against all vehicles the company makes or just the one for sale in the US/north America. If it's all cars then they would actually be able to force people to look at non gas guzzlers. Example ford only has there efficient line sold in other markets. By doing that it would allowed more gas guzzlers sold in North America. |

Got it covered here, paid GG tax on two of my three cars. Paid an extra $2600 on the ZL1 and $1300 on the SS.

US cars are pretty clean at any rate. you can put a car in a closed garage running and not even realize it. 20 yrs ago you would have passed out from all the fumes. Europe, with all the diesels, it a different story, as are developing countries like china and India.

They don't need to . Look at how cars are priced and which cars have a gas guzzler tax. Most are high end cars and trucks. (Corvettes, ZL1, Z28 and the more expensive pickups) Most people can't afford these kinds of cars so they go with the less expensive car and it usually gets better gas mileage.

Interesting that as we ween ourselves from foreign oil, the Middle East is coming apart at the seams. I said years ago that there would be hell to pay after we denied the Middle East our oil money by driving more "fuel efficient" cars and ruin their economy. Ironically, buying and driving extreme gas guzzlers and using OPEC may have prevented a few wars and made the world more stable. Imo.
