Talking Have you seen my 18 pounds?

Obviously, I'm not British, so this isn't a story about a missing wallet.

Almost 13 weeks ago, I decided to switch from a workout plan that went from maintaining my condition to improving it. I figured that I would try something different. Having stayed up too late one night, I saw an ad for P90X. Is it me or are these ads annoying to anyone else? The ad was convincing, but there was no way that a customer service representative is going to shell out the $120 for a box of DVDs on workouts that I could have seen on YouTube, so I started searching for some insight into the workouts.

It turns out that a lot of people swear by this program, so I found some sites online discussing the program and a schedule on what to do and when to do it.

To make this long story short, I lost 18 pounds and I was already healthy. The moral of the story is that those of you wanting to try a new workout routine can get really healthy in less than 13 weeks if you basically follow a workout plan involving a mix of kickboxing (I added some taekwondo to the workout in place of kempo and yoga), light weight lifting, lots of pushups, lots of crunches, and some agility exercises. Expect to spend up to an hour doing this workout 6 days out of the week.

Congrats man. To lose weight all you really need to do is some cardio and mix in some lifting. You need to do both so that your body doesn't get used to one thing so you got to mix it up.

Pick up a dumbell and then let it go.

Blur, Bonnie does this and we have a client that turned her on to it. He looked amazing in comparison to when he started. We have 3 set of the DVDs and if anyone local wants a set I can oblige. This stuff works. Just look at Bonnie.

I know your joking, and a lot of people with a good metabolism and genetics thinks this is the issue with overweight people...........it is not always the case.

Not eating is part of the problem. You body goes into starvation mode and stores everything it can in your fat cells........bad plan.

Eat 5-6 small meals per day and work out. 45 minutes a day, 30 cardio and 15 weight training is perfect for the average person looking to loose weight!

That really is true. I used to be really overweight in my youth and one day I just stepped on the scale and weighed a lot less, which motivated me to lose more. I got down to 145 lbs. (I'm 5'10") by starving myself and overdoing cardio. I was skinny alright - a skinny, untoned bag of flab with no muscle anyway.

Since then I've weight trained, eat six meals a day (and the right foods) and have gone up to 180 (with only a 2 to 3 percent body fat increase) and am cutting right now. I'd have never thought my metabolism was this fast since I've been consistently losing 1-2 lbs a week since the beginning of September now. Most people surprise themselves at how fast their metabolism really is if they merely reset it by increasing their food intake for a period of time.
