True Nissan GT-R Power
I was reading my new Motortrend mag when I came across their GTR test. They acheived a 0-60 time of 3.2 sec!! They decided it was impossible for a car with "only" 480 hp and 430 lb ft to acheive that time so they put it on a dyno thinking that perhaps Nissan underrated the engine. God they were right. The numbers read 507hp and a Lambo destroying 500 lb ft torque!!!!

I have Chevy blood running through my veins so.......I can't wait to see the ZR-1 beat it!
Yeah, it puts up incredible numbers. But it's missing a third pedal and has two too many wheels putting power to the ground. Like every other Japanese car, it's more like an appliance. Will the ZR-1 really beat it? Don't know for certain. Even if it doesn't, I'd still rather have a Chevy!

Yep. They're doing it right now. I was an auto service manager and let me tell you, when you promise something in a half an hour and it takes 45 minutes, things can get ugly. When you promise it in two hours and deliver it in one, everybody's happy. Always buffer estimates, even horsepower. The GT-R gets that power from a 3.8 liter V6. Wow! I'm a car whore - if I had the money I'd have an air-conditioned warehouse filled with all kinds of cars. ================================================== ======== DETROIT — While Cadillac representatives say the company has not yet submitted its supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 to the Society of Automotive Engineers for a certified output figure, the CTS-V motor will make 567 horsepower. It will, that is, if GM Powertrain and Cadillac are underestimating the engine's output as much as GM and Chevrolet underestimated the output of the related LS9 motor that powers the 2009 Corvette ZR1. At its launch at the Detroit auto show this past January, Chevrolet was careful to note that the LS9 would make "at least 620 horsepower." The final figure, announced last night is 638 hp. That's a 3 percent increase. How could Chevrolet be so wrong? Willfully, that's how. One powertrain development engineer we spoke with acknowledged what you probably already suspected: "Certainly, we knew it would make somewhere right around the final 638 number," he said. "It's a product of under-promising and over-delivering." If Cadillac is working the same promising/delivering ratio, then the initial estimate of 550 hp will balloon to 567. But Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell says, "We're not trying to hold back part of the story so we can spring a really big number for the final product. But the worst thing we could do is overstate it." A couple of well-publicized cases in years past, wherein products from Ford SVT and Mazda were found to produce less hp than advertised, have made the General cautious of such things. The 505-hp Corvette Z06 was estimated to make 500 hp (a 1 percent increase). What we do not expect is for the final CTS-V horsepower figure to deviate from the estimate as much as it did for the STS-V. Initially, the company said the supercharged Northstar in that vehicle would make 440 hp. By the time the engineers were done with the engine and the SAE put its stamp of approval on it, the motor was pumping out 469 hp — a whopping 6 percent increase. This, reckoned Cadillac, was too much under-promising for its own good. What this means to you: General Motors is playing the automotive equivalent of The Price Is Right — arriving at a nice round hp estimate close to the actual figure, without going over. — Daniel Pund, Senior Editor, Detroit http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=125943

507 is the lowest estimate that they give, a 10% driveline loss. 20% loss pegs power at around 570. So, we can figure that it probably makes 530 -540 hp. Add that to short gearing and all wheel drive and thats how it beat the Z06. The article is on their website.

Watch Chevy make a supercharged LS7 that out-performs the LS9 just to beat this. I'm calling it.

They could make a car with 12 wheels and 4 engines, but if it doesn't have something to get all the power to the ground it is irrelevant. The Nissan isn't even full-time AWD so quit acting like it is and like it is poison, just because something is american doesn't always mean it is right. If anything, the new Corvette should have a similar setup with a switch to keep it just RWD if you want.
If you want information about Nissans AWD system here you go: ATTESA-ETS (GT-R version) The 2009 Nissan GT-R uses an updated version of the ATTESA-E-TS, and is designed to work with the car's rear transaxle layout. The system is unique in a way that it utilizes two driveshafts under the vehicles centerline, with a second driveshaft runnng slightly to the right of the main driveshaft and engine sending power to the front wheels. It is so far, the only rear transaxle-based AWD system for a front engined car in production. Unlike the previous ATTESA systems which relied heavily on mechanical feedback, the system in the GT-R uses electronic sensors and hydraulically-actuated clutches. It also has a yaw-rate feedback control system, effectively managing slip angle. Front rear torque split can go from 2:98 during a standing start to a maximum of 50:50

Why do people always post crap like that lol, I just don't get it, can't anyone handle facts anymore? I'm not angry or anything it's just like people are intentionally ignorant. Just because I give a car credit, however, doesn't mean I don't want my Camaro in the end

Yes, I deleted mine as well - sorry if you felt singled out by my post but it was just a general statement, and like I said before, can't wait for the new Camaro no matter how good this Nissan is!
