Official GT-R Nurburgring Times

A blistering 7:29 dry lap time has been claimed by Nissan for the GT-R, placing it behind only the Pagani Zonda F in unmodified cars' track times on the 'ring. Wonder how the ZR1 will fare against this sort of time...

The GTR - V-Spec is testing now and turning in even faster times. At least reported by amazed by-standers. I saw a post indicating a 7:20 second lap times. It is a truly awesome car, unfortunately the dealers are marking it up beyond what most enthusiast who know the history of the car, can afford to pay.

You might be right but they have no official time for the vette but they did run a lap "in the low 7:40's" on a wet damp track day. So with a good driver and on a dry day i think they could get close.
That new time from the GT-R is 9 seconds faster than its original time becuause of a different driver. So I think us Americans might have a chance.

Holy CRAP. The V-Spec destroy the Zonda(7:25) if the standard GTR got 7:29!!! I hope Nissan changes the front bumper so its not as plain looking. Everything else is good looking.

I hope the zr1 beats it when they get a dry day and can do some additional suspension tuning. I hear Michael Schumacher isn't having much luck with motorcycles so maybe he is available to drive it.

I can't say that I'm surprised. I knew from the start that the first run wasn't full tilt, infact I made a post about it a few days ago.

I can safely say, the zr1 won't come close to touching this baby, and this isn't even the top of the line model.

Like I said, I'm a bit of a GT-R fanboi, but I do love my chevys.

This just came out to back me up...

Inside Line
Quote:
Nissan was so proud of the GT-R's production-car lap-record run of 7:29 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife that CEO Carlos Ghosn personally delivered the news to journalists gathered in Portugal.

It must be sweet for Ghosn who championed the GT-R when Nissan was in dire financial trouble. And trumping Chevrolet's double-barrel announcements last week regarding the Corvette ZR1's outrageous 638-hp output and its 205-mph top speed, doesn't hurt either.

But wait, didn't we quote Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter as saying that the ZR1 "will be able to take the production-car track record at any racetrack"? Yes, we did. What we didn't mention was that in the same interview, Juechter said that, while the company didn't yet have a full-production ZR1 to test at Nürburgring's old track, he confidently predicted the super-Vette would do the deed in "Seven minutes, twenty-something seconds."

Hey, is that a gauntlet we see there on the ground? Anyone care to pick that up? (We're looking directly at you, Chevy.)

Nice. This should be fun. Hopefully the Vette will do what they claim it can.

I predict a 7:21 run in the ZR1... and I'm guessing the V-Spec will be 7:21also... these two are the supercars of the future... and I can't wait to see what they do on the streets.
