2015 Mustang dyno 380rwhp

Magnaflow claim 30hp with their xpipe/catback setup. Seems the new mustang exhaust is smaller and more silent thats why they got that much.

30hp seems extreme. Either the stock exhaust is shit with a way better engine that needs to breathe or this is just BS.

After all maybe this improved 5.0 engine will be close to 450hp with some factory SVT upgraded exhaust(like NPP).

No exhaust does that. Maybe headers but no catback or axle-back exhaust.

'' Car was 100% stock, with 30 miles on it, Gas in the tank was original from Ford.

No tune was made, zero modifications aside from a cat back exhaust. No headers, OEM cats remained.

Gear dynoed in was 5th with 1:1 drive ratio.

Dyno used was a dynojet.

Multiple factors apply to the restriction, the piping size off the manifolds and for the whole exhaust is actually smaller than 2014, the cars have a super restrictive mufflers that are likely in place to keep it quiet for global standards, as well as the 3 muffler/resonator set up as opposed to the 2 muffler set up we are used to seeing on Mustangs.

I attribute that to Ford really stepping it up for global comforts.

Just a quote, I do not believe it. Seems like a big stretch for a catback/xpipe WITH CATS. 14' 5.0 XPIPE gains where awesome because of the cats removal or high flow cats replacing stock ones. Like when you replace your stock cats on a LS3..hello 15-20rwhp.

A stock GT should make about 380 RWHP. Stock LS3's make ~370 and they have 9 less horsepower compared to the 2015 5.0's.

Most 13'+ LS3 dyno 380-390+rwhp. Dyno numbers vary a lot though.

From reading the posts on Mustang6g from both Gibson and Magnaflow..

Both are showing unturned 30rwhp gains, and both are showing 30lbs lighter than stock.

If a few more come back with gains of 20-30whp, I'll be willing to view it was legit.

We'll see

Edit: This quote was interesting..FordService has an active presence on that forum and likely would have disputed this..

The magazines all complained that the GT exhaust was a bit on the quiet side. That said, it seems that on modern sport cars, an exhaust does little for power and is more about sound these days.

I'd be shocked if Ford plugged that car up so much that a simple exhaust change nets 30rwhp. That would be a huge win for 2015 Mustang owners.

Maybe thats Ford's plan for an easy change to match the LT1 Camaro when it debuts, or perhaps they are going to offer a performance mode exhaust option like GM does on Camaro and Corvette, but it will add much more than just 4 or 6 HP like the GMPP does.

THIS. I think they want the headroom for an easy refresh.

It may be the case that Ford it choking the revised 5.0 from both ends in preperations for the LT1.

Hmmm...

If the exhaust does indeed pick up 30 hp and 25 tq, combine this with a CAI and tune and that would be 430 whp and 400 wtq for less than 1,800 bucks in parts

I would be surprised if Ford purposely choked off the 5.0 that much. The 5.0 seems to gain a lot from a tune due to the TiVCT.
