They might as well milk it for what its worth now. Come next year, their share of the market will be much smaller and they know it.

I think it is the goal of Ford to sell more mustangs to specialty shops than to the regular buyers, at least for the V8's. Someone needs to compile a list of current special editions of the mustang.

I personally feel the oversaturation of these "special" models actually diminishes owning a "special" model.

The Dan Gurney edition is nice, but at this point, it's just another "special" Mustang, the difference being the wheels, and decals.

Ford execs - "How can we prolong interest in the Mustang?"
Marketing - "Lets slap a different set of wheels and decals on it and make it a "Special _______" edition."

IMO, they need to focus on an answer to two cars which will really challenge it for supremacy on the street, the Challenger and Camaro. Decals and fancy wheels only get you so far.

Ford has gone from reputable to a corporate scam. They aren't even contributing to reputation or tradition anymore. They're just filthy, greedy hogs trying to sell a mediocre car with options and paint jobs that no one wants anymore. I could put a big #2 on my car for way less than that! They aren't ever going to increase in value. Who is buying this trash? The Ford Mustang has become an automotive joke. I thought ricer Civics were bad, but this is nonsense. I hope Saleen loses money on this venture and never makes another Mustang again. They've ruined their reputation and don't deserve to modify another car.

Yeah, and that didn't count Ford's own "special editions"....the Pink Warriors editions (yeah, yeah, some of the proceeds went to charity...how about just donate some money to the charity and knock off one more "edition")....they also had that one (I don't remember the name of it) where the commercial talked about it being "the only pony car on the road"...so they were making a special edition...the "upgrades" were pretty much just different fog lights, one of 3 colors, some different badges and maybe some wheels.....anyone remember what I'm talking about or am I just getting it confused with one of their other special editions?
