A dog lovers sad story.

A few weeks ago I posted a thread called "a nightmare that almost happened". In the thread I made lite humor of the fact that my dogs got out of our yard and scared the hell out of me. My wife and I don't know how the dogs got out. There was a latch at the top of the gate and after trying every senerio to try to get the latch to unhook we could not get it to. So either someone tried to get into our back yard and found we had pets or purposely unlocked the gate to let the dogs out. We will never know for sure. In the end of my thread I posted a small tragedy had happened. Our 12 year old pomeranian was missing. In the thread I say he was 9 but my miss confirmed for me we've had him for 12 years. Well after a few weeks of looking for him, posting signs, and even posting it on craigslist we had all but given up hope that we'd ever see him again. Just yesterday we finally get a call from the pound. They have our little boy but to our shock he was not no where near the same condition he left. Someone hdid have him and attemted to shave him. In the process of doing it they cut him by his tail and rear very bad. Rather than trying to care for the wound the assholes did something that doesn't surprise me anymore. They let him go back on the streets without treatment and when my wife saw him at the pound they said he had maggots in the wound. He was dehydrated and lost weight.they said he was found in our neiheborhood. You hear of cruelty all the time and I've always wondered. Why have animals if you're only going to hurt them. Let them go to a family who will love them. That's all they want. In the pics you can see how he looked when we brought him home from the pound and a pic of his wound once we got him back from the vet. Well after a trip to the vet he's doing better and starting to act like himself. I'm glad he back home safe.

That is very sad, I can't say what I would do to the punk who did this to your dog, I'm glad your dog is back home.

This made me really sad, I don't understand how people can be so beyond disgusting to a helpless animal. I'm sorry this happened to your pup, but I'm glad you found him. This is exactly why whenever I see animals walking around alone, I almost always try to get them, because you never know what will happen if some ass hole gets their hands on them. I'm happy to hear he is feeling better, and good luck with his recovery

I don't have patients or sympathy for people like this. I am extremely angry right now after reading that. I'm so sorry about what happened but I'm glad that the dog is ultimately OK.

If you think someone opened the gate or something you might want to invest in a security camera with a DVR.

Poor pup. At least he is back home where he should be. Might be worth it to invest in a gate lock. I have one on mine not for security, but to make sure no little kids open it so my lab can get out.

People like that are just sick and dimented people. Theyre on some sort of power trip , however they have no power over anyone except a harmless animal. I have 2 pitbulls and theyre my life. I keep my house and gates locked like fort knox cause you hear about all the thugs and lowlifes searching in residentual areas for dogs, especially pitbulls to use for fighting or bait dogs. Apparently they put a sticker somewhere letting theyre buddies know what is their. Anyone tries to take my dogs will certainly get an early death sentence. Im glad you got youre pup back and theyre doing ok.

I am beyond happy that you found your dog.

It makes me physically sick to think someone would do that to an animal.

Well the funny thing is, we did have a lock on the gate and the key is in my dresser. Whoever opened my gate may have cut the lock, again, we don't know if that's what happened for sure. My daughter, my wife, or myself may have taken the lock off to get to the back yard although none of us recall doing it. We think that maybe someone was trying to use our wall to gain access to neibhors (sp?) back yard. He own his own company and has thousands of dollars worth of tools and using our wall would be the easiest way to get in there. Once they opened the gate they met my rotweiler and my pitbull and prolly got scared away. That's just what we were thinking but we don't that for sure. The liitle guy is tough and I'm sure he'll be humping legs again in no time. Thanks for all of your support and prayers. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks again.
