Animals hurling themselves in front of my car

Must be something in the air, I've had a lot of animals (and other drivers) hurling themselves in front of my car lately. Several drivers pulling out in front of my when there clearly isn't time. A few dogs jumping out in the road.

Yesterday on the way to go have dinner with my Dad and Grandma, I came over a hill to see a deer walking out into the road. Got on the brakes hard, ABS kicked in, came to a stop about 5ft before the deer standing in my lane making no effort to move... Got underway again, only to hit a medium sized bird that flew out in front of me at 60mph a few miles down from the deer...

No damage that I could find as of yet, sucks either way, but better the bird than the deer.

Anyone else having these random animal in the road problems?

For me the animals that have been misfortunate enough to happen into my path as I hurtle down the highways have all been insects. A good spraying with soapy water washes away all memory of the little blighters.

Probably about 6-8 occurances when I had to really get on the brakes in the last week, the only casualty has been the bird.

I am a professional at this. If I could make money as the grim reaper for animals, I'd have it made.

Ove the course of a few years, I've hit, entirely accidentally (I'm not a sadist, I swear):

-Three deer (including one incident that jacked up a rental car pretty badly... had the extra coverage, just walked away from it, no deductable, no worries)
-A few skunks (I do not regret taking them out)
-A porcupine (didn't seem problematic at first, but within three days, had two flat tires.... quills worked their way through over a few days' driving)
-A couple of cats
-A few dogs (including a Rottweiler that dented the bumper of my Mitsubishi, but walked away...)
-A wild boar (I was in reverse, doing close to 40MPH... the boar flew through the air, rolled a few times, stood up, shook it off, and demonstrated aggession towards my vehicle before running off...)
-A bat
-A raccoon
-Countless birds (Including seven in one week... I have a theory that certain weather/ meteorological conditions cause birds to tend to fly lower to the ground under certain conditions... often, if I hit one bird, I'm very likely to hit more within a day or two...)
-A number of fireflies (notable because the goo continues to glow as it run across the windshield)

Last year I had to take a detour due to a wreck. It went through a rural residential area. There was an ATV coming down the road in the opposite direction from me. I saw a dog looking at the ATV moving toward it to chase it but it was going to cross my path first. I came to a stop & the dog, never seeing me, ran into me denting my bumper. Grrrrrrrrr! Stupid dog walked away looking baffled. I still have the crease in my bumper. I'm waiting until I can aford to get all the chips & that fixed, stripes painted & the whole car clear coated.

This happened to me, recently...

Ignore my lame attempt at a really bad Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith pun.
