Question about Protein Powders..

What protein are you taking?
Have you seen good gains from it?
Does it make you gassy?

Trying to stay away from creatine

I was looking around and found good reviews on 100% gold standard whey protein. Also, I found AMP at GNC ,but not sure which way I should go. Trying to see what some other people are taking.

I have tried almost all of them over the past 10 years. I keep coming back to Optimum Nutritions line. I use their AfterMax for postworkout, their gold standard for MRPs and pre workout meal added to a whole food meal. They all mix very well and taste good. Once your stomach gets use to them the gas goes away, however never really had issues with the Optimum line. Good Luck

I'm not drinking protien shakes right now, team bombshell has me eating 6 small meals a day of all lean meats and fish but when I did have protien shakes as part of my meals I bought the gladiator mix from smoothie king, it only has 1 carb, 0 fat, and 45 grams of protien per serving, its the best I could find:

I take the Syntha 6 powder. I noticed great gains initially, but that could be because I had never lifted weights before. As of today I have put on about 15lbs of muscle, and seen significant strength increases since February when I began lifting. I am currently trying to double my protein intake, along with food so I can reach my goals by the end of this year. Alos, at first I bought my supplements at places like GNC and Nutra Shope. Now I order everything off these two sites, muscleandstrength.com, and lockoutsupplements.com saving myself a ton of cash.

Everybody has a different goal in mind, as well as body type. My goal is to weigh 200+ pounds going from 175. Yours could just be to get fit, lean out, or loose weight. What works for me, may not work for you is what I am trying to say. There are a few members here that know way more about this stuff than I do like, dznts, and hrpiii. Hopefully they will chime in as well.

I love the product Protalyn: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/sf/prota-lyn.html

Its made locally here outside of Pittsburgh and a lot of times there are buy one get one free deals (on the website and just at the storefront itself). I definitely saw gains from it. Still have to eat a good diet, but its tough to get enough protein.

I like it best mixed with milk but you can mix with soy or water or whatever. The flavors are great which is a huge plus. Some proteins are just nasty. I've grown to really look forward to the stuff.

Gold Standard is pretty good.
I guess it depends on what you need it for.

I need to lose some pounds, so I'm taking Pro7ein synthesis
One serving is 41g, 34g of which is all protein. No sugars, no carbs. It's very lean, and I've noticed a huge change in the last couple of weeks. Doesn't taste bad either.

The closest protein in nature to what your body actually uptakes is Whey protein. That's why it's so popular. The second closest in nature is egg protein and then arguably soy protein.

Taking these makes it easier for your liver to actually form branch chain amino acids for uptake into your body. Ever notice you eat a lot of tuna, and like an hour later your urine smells like it? That's because your body can't process it into branch chain amino acids and use it unless it has an equal amount of the other required proteins that aren't in tuna. Whey protein is almost 100% assimilated by your body, which makes it quite effective in building lean muscle mass.

What brand to use is personal opinion. Other amino acids can supplement your body's ability to make lean mass too, but if you don't have the branch chain amino acids in your system, you don't have the basic building blocks for muscle.

My goals to get a little more mass on me. I'm 6'-6'1" and about 190-200lbs. I'm not to skinny and no where near fat. Just started working out about 3 weeks ago. Seems like I notice a little change in my body, but could be myself dreaming since it has only been 3 weeks.

Also, I take fish oil pills here and there.

I take muscle milk. When I am true to it (taking it twice a day), I gain about 2 pounds every 2 weeks; lifting 4 times a week. Lately I've just been using to keep up my weight, so I only take it before I workout. It's doing its job to maintain my weight. I have a rly high metabolism and very little fat, so I loose weight easily if I don't use it and don't work out as often.
I think Muscle Milk has the best taste out there of all the protein shakes

A big +1. I love Syntha 6, it is by far the best tasting protein I have ever used. I get it from bodybuilding.com. Unfortunately I do not have the time to seriously work out right now but in the past I have seen good results.
