Sound Volume Normalization [loud / quiet TV CH's]

Sound Volume Normalization

Anyone got a TV that makes all your stations the same volume?

Also wonder if anyone has the add on box to do that?

Ebay, mags, you can spend $30-$40 for a box that is suppose to do that.

wonder how things work out for you volume wise?

See

to many channels now on the new TV from like the 30-s into the 80s there is n volume change, and its "low" you want to turn it up but there is no change.

other channels I got it into the teens not to be to loud. a few late at night when its all quiet, you can't turn it down low enough. 1 is to loud and its off after that.

Magnavox used to have Smart Sound that would do that. I think they still have it. I'm not sure if other mfgs have a similar function.

Well there is a new law forcing broadcasters to not have the volume of commercials be increased. It is called the CALM Act. It was signed into law in Dec 2010 and the regulations need to be published by the FCC no later than Dec 2011.

The effect you're looking for is called compression. If you're running external speakers, you can run them through a rack mount compressor. Find it at Guitar Center, Sam Ash, etc. Anywhere with pro audio equipment.

Thats what I was thinking, we need an external sound system as the TV isn't cutting it.

And compression is what I want ehy?

Never seen such nice TV and movies, id like to get the sound better.

Koby 32" LCD

[Though won't go on how some channels are still dumb video wise, with the black box bars still on the TV when its a wide screen TV already.........]

Got any links?

is it active acording to your volume level input?

read more into these

same as I seen in catalogs for $40

but they are a 1 setting type thing, u set the box volume, then no matter what it doesn't change up or down, even if using the TV remote.

its annoying during commercials.... they also make commercials brighter on most channels.... really obvious at night when you've got the tv on and no lights on.

We had a local place dumb enough to use the tornado siren in their 3am commercials. I was shocked how long it took to get pulled. Even more shocked that the local cable co didn't see the problem running it at first.
