Neat video to watch. You can certainly see the steel piston sleeves.

However, the premise for the video was one of the stupidest ever.

Next we'll see Trane show the effects of a broken air conditioner by pouring gas over a house and burning it down.

I think some of the engineers/techs just wanted to see an engine melt and needed a "promotional video" excuse to do it. It gave the wide eyed corporate exec her 15 minutes of fame as well.

That reminds me of something I saw in my old shop...
We had a tour bus towed into our shop - the engine had seized. After doing some troubleshooting, we pulled the cylinder head, and found something quite shocking...
Turns out, the tour operator was very desperate to get as much out of their engines as possible. Nobody paid attention when the engine was overheating. This was not an electronic engine, so there was no shutdown for overheat. They ran the engine SO HOT that the piston began to melt. It hit the cylinder head, deposited a whole pile of melted piston on the head, then seized the piston in the block. I'll take a look when I get home - I might just still have a picture of that head...
Needless to say - keep your coolant system topped up, and if you see your temperature get too hot - STOP!

Our shop replaced a BMW engine once that the owner ran untill it melted the radiator and the remote mounted oil filter housing.
