Arrow Cars.com American Made Index ranks Toyota Camry #1 again

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/23/c...camry-1-again/

First and foremost, the Toyota Camry is (somewhat ironically) still at the top of the American Made Index. But second place is a bit of a surprise, with the Honda Accord making a debut appearance in the runner-up position. Notably, it takes the place of the Ford F-150, which falls off the list entirely.

On average, our automakers use more parts and supply tens of thousands more American people than their imported competition.

However, I'm glad they can't get the simple definition of product right. According to Dictionary.com, the legal definition of "product," as in an American product, is: the output of an industry or firm and/or a thing created by manufacturing. I see no where where the product is made attributing to the label of the said product. To the contrary, it mentions an industry or firm that made the product, in which case Toyota is a Japanese headquartered company. Therefore, it is the logical conclusion that Toyota is a Japanese product.

I will never forget when visiting my sister in Chicago her close friend told me during a disucssion on what engineering jobs his son might look forward to when he graduated from college, "why I bought an AMERICAN Honda".

Clueless...................

It's not suprising that the Camry Should be #1. It's the decided Vehicle of Choice for the braindead, and we have more braindead idiots in America than anywhere else on earth. I nominate it as the National Car.

The sad thing is that foreign companies will use more american parts and labor than domestic companies.

Can someone please explain the point of this thread? We have some broken English replies, some incomplete sentences, and one-word answers. Between a hen and a half-gallon hat, I don't know what's going on.

What's the big deal?

The 'big deal' is that Cars.com is a joke for even suggesting that foreign car companies are somehow American just because they have factories here. Doesn't matter how many factories they put up here, the profits still go back to one source: The country of origin, which is not the US.

That's like saying the Camaro is a Canadian product.. because the factory here puts it together.
