Is my Mustang GT worth stealing?
I have an old Yellow 2001 mustang GT convertible. I recently decided to drive it to work. Within 2 days i noticed the keyhole on the door has been destroyed by someone shoving a screwdriver into it and I assume trying to steal the car. This hasn't happened to me before. I am still a little in shock.
Question: Is a 2001 (very old) mustang REALLY worth stealing? I have read the stories of the guys with new Camaros being vandalized. This sucks. I am going to fix the door keylock cylinder though. I was super angry but now I am just numb. Kinda glad the only muscle-car I have is this one and not a new one due to stuff like this happening. Last edited by 2001ragtop; 06-19-2010 at 04:01 PM. |

No one ever said criminals were smart bro. Hate it for you regardless of high dollar car or not. It's your personal property. Hopefully they will try and steal from the wrong redneck Texan!

I wouldn't call an '01 "very old" and its still probably worth stealing, if nothing else than to go for a joy ride. We're not talking about a 1977 Mustang II here ..

Exactly, I think it's all perception, and when you're really young a ten year old car seems old and a 20 year old car seems like an antique from another era.

Someone told me they probably wanted my car for parts too and I had not thought about that. engine, transmission, etc. My car also looks brand new. except for one dent i never fixed. I guess it's not really that old. I just didn't think i would need a car alarm. Guess I better get one.

nope, General Automotive + Other Cars Discussion is the proper forum on the site to discuss such things.

Yep, sure is. If it ain't bolted down, some jackass somewhere will take it. Even then, somebody will unbolt it. I've seen lots worse stolen than an '01 GT, fo sho. As said previously, thankfully they didn't cut the top... I had some idiot do that to a Cutlass 'vert many years back to steal a few cassette tapes. Here's the kicker- The car was UNLOCKED.

For the most part, people seem to have given honest and unbiased responses to the question. So I'd disagree that we're the wrong people to ask.

I smell what RedJewel is cookin' there.
Hahahaha... I wouldn't steal a Mustang either, but probably from morbid fear it would break down on the getaway run and I'd be caught. Just kidding, just kidding... I hate a thief.
