new car haggle what price?

so the gf is going to buy a car but she is kinda timid in some situations so she asked for my help. she wants a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander GT with the nav and leather package (top of the line for this vehicle), MSRP come to exactly $33,015 there is a $1000 incentive to buy before the end of the month and they do offer $1000 for returning Mitsubishi owners (which she doesn't count for)

Now what dop you guys think i should pay for the car? it is not a special order we went to a dealer the other day that had 5 in stock... i know it is the end of the 2010 model year, can i use that to talk the dealer down? and by how much?

thanks for any help... i have bought a new car but have not haggled on the price i got the camaro early and at MSRP.

Why would she want an outlander?
I wouldn't buy it for more than 29

Ask for the invoice. Give them $500 over the invoice amount, then subtract any incentives.

well it has everything she was looking for at a great price...
it was remodeled this year and built on the evo platform

it has HIDs, V6, all wheel drive with a snow setting and a locking dif setting (for when we go to the mountains around 45 times a year). touch screen nav with hard drive, sun roof, all leather, seats seven, reclining front seats and second row, stow-able third row, built in sub, and just a bunch of cool features are in this car.

we actually went to look at it the other day and the things they incorporated into the design of this vehicle are awesome and smart!

As for purchasing, can i just ask to see the invoice? or ask how much the invoice is? how does that work?

Many dealerships are very willing to show you what the invoice price is. Most dealerships that I have dealt with were more than willing to bring out the sheet showing MSRP, Invoice, Employee discount. The main lesson I have learned is to call around to different dealerships to make sure they are giving you all of the incentives. Sometimes they may have a non advertised incentive such as loyalty or conquest and some dealership are not forthcoming about them.

The margin on a new car sale is very thin in comparison to used cars some dealerships will give a price and that is where they stay. The biggest area for negotiating is the value of a trade if she is trading.

And you can look on Edmunds.com for invoice pricing

Edit:Just looked on Edmunds and they say $33,015 MSRP, $30,966 Invoice, $31,283 average purchase price before incentives and then they advertise the $1,000 incentive. Without doing anymore research it looks like you should be able to get it for about $30,000 before taxes. Maybe bargain for some oil changes.

Just a tip - don't drive your camaro there... They're going to be a lot less willing to budge on price if you do.
