How to tell if....

someone has peeled out in your car. I know it may seem like a stupid question and the obvious answer is rubber on your fenders or the smell. The reason I ask is that last time I took my SS into the shop I am pretty sure they played a little in my car which kind of pisses me off. I couldn't prove it but I saw rubber on the fenders, yet it could have came from me because I hadn't washed it in a few days. Also, thought I smelled the burned rubber smell but couldn't tell if I was tricking myself into smelling it. Anyone have any other tricks? Thought about putting a tape player in my car but thought that was going a little far. May seem stupid to some people and that it shouldn't matter, but its more of a respect issue to me. I work hard for my car and don't want some jerk off playing in it instead of doing his job.

Afterwards..no, not really.

What you can do is check your tires before, wear, scuffs, etc..and then compare them to after. If you have obvious tire damage and such afterwards..there you go.

What shop? A dealer? If its a dealer I would not only raise all hell with the owner, but I would inform GM too(bad PR for them, even if dealers are independent)

If you look closely at the tire tread itself, if they have been spun for any significant amount, there will be some fine hair like scratches /cuts running in line with how the wheel rotates. If driven normally, these small lines/cuts will not be there, the tread blocks will be smooth. This was a handy trick my Dad taught me when I first started shopping for cars as a teenager. Hope this helps...

Best thing you can do is set the speed warning super low. At least if it goes off it will stop them from really beating on the car. Aside from that I never leave my car with anyone and will never take it in for anything unless I absolutely can't do it myself.

Put a mark on the tire tread near the inside of the tire with a white paint pen. It should last for a little bit of regular driving. Anything more agressive then moving it in and out of the shop and it will wear off.

kinda hard to prove that anyone is driving your car how you yourself drive it.

If you are inferring that I should be o.k with someone driving my car the same way I drive my car then I totally disagree. When they make my payments, pay for my tires and maintenance then they can drive it that way. Yes I peel out in my car, yes I do doughnuts in my car, yes I work my ass off for my car so I am allowed to, because it is MY car.
