Do people just not know what they are buying

This might pee some people off, but why would they buy something they don't know everything about. Just saw a thread where someone wanted to know how to tell which engine he had and the other day was in my dealer and the service manager and a customer had come in to have his tires rotated and got all bent out of shape when he found out the front and rear were different size. How do I trun on my fog lights on my 2ss/rs and it goes on.

dealer related: i actually went to the dealer for my first 5K mile service and the ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER said they were going to balance and rotate my tires. I said you can't rotate my tires. He says '"it's part of the service, do you not want us to?' I say "no, because they are two different sizes."

I'm actually more surprised at the lack of knowledge of alot of dealers, more than consumers. I've corrected the dealers on misinformation from my previous car purchases many times.

But have to be more accepting though to the consumers who may not know many things about their car initially, and nobody knows everything about their car.

Soooo...YOU know everything there is to know about your car?? Want me to start asking you questions? I won't because I'm 99.9% sure I could ask you something you don't know the answer to. In case you missed it, that other thread got cleaned up and closed.

This is the very thing that is turning me off about this website lately.

Hmmm... I think the OP is complaing about posts that could easliy be avoided if the person would do some basic research rigth here on the site.

But I do see your point about bashing the ignorant. We all were ignorant about this car at some point.

I don't see why its so hard for you guys to realize most and I mean most people will buy the camaro because its sexy and fast. All other details are secondary and more of an FYI

Aby, I am sure there are something that I don't know, but did enough research to know what in my opinion an informed buyer would want to know before making a major expenditure. I have had no surprises because of that. It is not only my rides, but anything major, if it is windows for my home or what tractor to buy. It just pays to research.

Yes, you are right. I'm just getting tired of the bashing threads....like that other one turned into. The tone of your post is that same way. Some people will buy the car for the looks and then learn more about it later. While that isn't the way you go about your purchases (and I respect that) others aren't that way. I'm just tired of how negative and unhelpful this site is becoming. :(

I think it's one thing to not know everything about your car, but which engine you have is a pretty simple thing to know when you're investing $30+ k into your car. SAM's Club did the same thing to my IS250 rotated my tires when they are different sizes, so yea it happens.

who cares if people don't know anything about their car? they bought it, they must have wanted it. just give them the answer they are looking for if you know it. if you don't, or don't feel like answering them for whatever reason, there's the "back" option you can click. Why bother worrying about it?

Granted, i post in some of those to be sarcastic. lol doesn't bother me though.

I was one of the sarcastic posters in the other thread. In hindsight, I should have simply answered the OP's question, but I couldn't resist a little ribbing. I obvioulsy offended some folks, but most definetly not my intention.

Can I come out of "time out" now?
