My other Hard Top

I just picked this hard top up for the SKY. It is removable and uses all teh factory mount points. I think it really makes the car look exotic, like a James Bond Car. This car is really unique now, as if the SKY's weren't rare enough. They only produced 32,000 in 3.5 years and only about 18,000 were redlines. Great low production car, I love my SKY.

I bought this for the summers out in Vegas. The black soft top will be too hot in that desert sun at 110 degrees. This will keep the car cooler and it looks bad ass. Going to rig a pulley system form the garage ceiling so that I can take it on and off easier.

Between the Sky and the Camaro, I have two reverse mohawks!

What do you guys think??

You should do something crazy with it ... like drop a LS3 or something of that nature

Thanks,

I already own an LS3. The Sky does a respectable 5.4 0-60, and just under 14 sec 1/4 mile. It is a perfect blend of cruiser, corner demon, and style. RIght now it hooks up excellent, too much power with the light car and I have traction issues. If I wanted to beef it up, there are some large turbo's that can get this car to beat my stock SS. There was a package put out by RPI, in CA, that got the 0-60 to about 3.7 seconds. The cars name was Brutus.

This car is my collectible, anything I do to it can go back to stock at a drop of a hat.

Nice addition.

Is it quieter that than the convertible top? I know the Sky has the extra insulation in the top so it isn't too bad at all for the highway.

I assume this makes access to the trunk impossible?

A little quieter, but also makes the car a bit more stiff, better on turns. The trunk is a no go with the top on. But I never use it anyway, so it was no problem for me.

I see lots of SKYs around here... same with Solstices. Pretty far from rare (atleast here). Still cool nonetheless.

If you live in a small town, maybe you see the same 4 people all the time or.........They are a bit more popular in states that are warmer, for obvious reasons, but comparing to Camaro's there is no contest in numbers.

EVERY TIME I take the car out someone asks me what it is, no BS.

SKY was built from mid 2006 to 2010 (only 8 built with 2010 year) and they built 32,000

Camaro built for 1 year 2 months and I Believe last I read at 110,000. At that rate there will be over a half million in the same amount of years as the SKY production.

Don't get me wrong, I bought the Camaro because I wanted the best American Muscle Car, but it i nice having a nice performer that is hardly seen.

Beautiful Roadster, now Coupe/Roadster. U do kno that GM offers a warrantied performance upgrade for the 2.0L Turbo for like $699???

It increases your HP to 295HP and 340lbs of torque. That 340lbs of torque could alone drop the 0-60 from 5.1 to about 4.2/3.

Quote:
The Pontiac Solstice GXP, Saturn Sky Redline, and Chevrolet HHR SS are plenty of fun with 260 horsepower underfoot, and we can only imagine that the joy quotient increases as power improves. General Motors' performance division knows as much, and it's now offering an LNF Turbo Upgrade kit to kick its 2.0L turbo direct injection engine into gear. The kit consists of a new engine calibration and MAP sensors that will push your turbo four to 290 horsepower and up to 340 lb-ft of torque with the six-speed manual transmission (315 - 325 lb-ft with a slush box). The new factory turbo kit also keeps the precious warranty intact, which is a huge bonus over other aftermarket setups.

The LNF Turbo Upgrade also gives the GXP, Redline and SS the same "no-lift shift" functionality as the Cobalt SS Turbo, which enables you to shift without taking your foot off the accelerator. The kit also bumps the redline by 200 to 6500, but the hulkified 2.0L engine will now demand premium fuel to deliver its increased power delivery. The General is also working on a similar upgrade kit for the Cobalt SS, and it should arrive at your local Chevy dealer during Q1 2009. The LNF turbo kit delivers some added pop to three already fun vehicles, and it can be purchased at a GM dealer for $650. Is it worth the extra coin? It's up to you, but we're guessing it couldn't hurt. You can check out assembly instructions for the LNF Turbo Upgrade kit here.

Had that installed on my Sky Redline. Awesome improvement, but not a 4.2 second car by any means.
