Question Something hot in front of console?

Just curious if anyone knew what this is as it was extremely hot.

I don’t have a picture as I only felt it. I was installing a course motor sports phone mount and was running the USB down behind the radio and tucking it up under the side of the console on the passenger side.

When I was just forward of the console towards the firewall, I touched something that was extremely hot and burned me a tad. I was running the heater previously so it may have had something to do with that, but it was extremely hot.

I would be concerned about the wires touching the hot surface. I would think its probably a heater core.

Yeah I thought about that too. I was sure to make sure The wires are a good bit away, it was just my finger that was touching it reaching back there.

Bad firewall? I think its located right behind the head unit as with most vehicles. It can get warm behind the head unit, but not extremely hot, that leads to electronics failure especially the touchscreens.

It’s further down on the transmission tunnel like right behind the console. I’m going to see if I can get a better look in a little while when I can contort myself around.
