Decisions......
OK. I have been lurking on here for the past few weeks as I am trying to decide whether to purchase a 2010 Camaro SS or 2011 Mustang GT to replace my 2008 Caliber CSRT4. Every Mustang thread in this forum has been closed for some reason or another and would like for this to stay open for discussion please.
As mentioned, I own a 2010 Mustang GT that my wife drives as a DD. I really like the interior and it is well made and easy to work on. I have a CSRT4 as a DD. For those that don't know, this car is the 2nd generation of the original Neon SRT4. I have done some work to it and it is laying down around 350WHP. Deadly from a roll but blows from a stop as there is just no traction. Background out of the way.....I want to replace the CSRT4 and am really torn between the Mustang and Camaro. Personally I think the Mustang interior is light years ahead of the Camaro however the Camaro offers a mod friendly motor where 500HP is attainable with not much money. This is where my conflict resides. For 2K in mods, I could have a DD Mustang that would run solid 12's and maybe the occasional 11 without touching the motor. On the Camaro side I could easily obtain 500HP and solid 12's with occasional 11's but will require a cam change to do so hence opening up the motor. The aftermarket not offering a replacement for the factory 3.45 is the major issue. Another plus for the Camaro is my oldest wants a 3rd gen for his first car. I think it would be cool for son and dad to both sport a Camaro plus I have a 2010 Mustang already. Here is what I would go for with each car: Camaro: ![]() Mustang: ![]() I am really separated down the middle on this one.......

You can get people's opinions, but they're just that, opinions. It's personal preferrence, really. Beauty is in the eye of thbeholder.
I like the look of the camaro much better (interior and exterior), and I do like the mod-friendliness of the LS3. I am getting the camaro. If you like the interior better in the mustang, it might be a better car for you. If you feel the bond you and your oldest have is important, than that might be a better car for you. My advice would be to test drive them both and make your decision then. One car might be more fun than the other, or one car might outperform the other noticeably. I haven't even seen a 2011 mustang aside from pictures online, so I have no idea. =) |

Why get another mustang? Yeah the power will be different but it looks the same. Get the Camaro, it looks way more aggressive and not everyone and their mom has one. I have an 2005 Mustang now and I see them at like every stop light. I am getting an SS in 6 months

If you already own a 2010 Mustang, it seems kind of pointless to get a 2011 without trading the other one in, even with all the upgrades it has. I'd get a Camaro just for variety if nothing else.

I agree if you already have a Mustang, get the Camaro. Having 2 of the same car is kind of boring.
The Mustang interior is slightly nicer looking than the Camaro in my opinion (sorry, I don't like the chunky gauges). But I feel there is more room for my long legs in the Camaro. The styling on the Camaro is more agressive, and i feel it's just one of those cars you want to keep looking at. The Mustang has a lot of available factory accessories, which is nice. And they have a better blue (yes I'm still upset about them cutting out ABM and leaving IBM) The Camaro also has the bigger engine and the SS comes with the 'track pack' tires that you have to pay extra for in the Mustang. But seriously after browsing through the Mustang site, you have a ton of configurations, you can order, almost like the good old muscle car days I hear so much about. I hope the Camaro does this soon and offers a ton of factory upgrades!

Yeah, one of each would be good.
Two Camaro's would be better.

Really what you need to do is simple.
Go test drive both cars. Then sit down and discuss price, options, etc. Get the best deal possible on both cars and then make the decision YOU will be comfortable with. |

Moral of the story, don't look at a $35000 car as something rare. Last edited by coolman; 01-04-2010 at 06:19 PM. |

Geez, I wonder if you are going to get biased answers to this question.
![]() Anyway, that is a tough decision. IMO, the Camaro is a much better looking car on the outside. The interiors are a toss up. The performance on the 2011 Mustang is looking to be pretty damn awesome. I'd wait until you see some real performance tests from C&D, Motor Trend, etc on the Mustang and, as earlier posters said, have a test drive in both - then make the decision on what you think the best car for the $$ is. |
