Fuel Guage

Anybody have their fuel Guage stop working?

Not me.

It's probably the sending unit, wiring/grounds, or the gauge itself. Do you have a wifi/bluetooth ELM27 OBDII scanner device or know someone that does? The kind you can use for the Torque app or DashCommand, etc...? If so, you can load the Fuel Level PID and see if it reports anything. If not, then the ECM/FPCM is not getting any level data from the tank.

Someone with a Snap On, Autel or compatible scanner or the Dealer's MDI2 + GM GDS2 will be able to directly test the gauge and sending unit and their associated values. I hate electrical issues, especially on CanBus systems.

Sometimes when I fill my tank the next start the gauge will show empty, then after 25 miles or so it starts working again. As the car has gotten older it stopped doing this. I read its a common thing.

Started working after about 50 miles. Don't know anyone that can check it. Hate to go to a dealership. Hope it works for now.
