volt battery maker chosen. . .

just read on TTAC that GM chose LG to make the batteries for the volt. and A123 got a deal in China to make batteries for a project over there. . .

Did GM say "hey we're taking LG here in the states but our partner will hook you up in chine A123?" that's what it seems to me.

My understanding is that LG will supply the battery cells and build the batteries for the Car's initial production. Then, very shortly afterwards, GM will take over the building of the batteries at an in-house facility in Michigan...but LG will continue to supply the cells.

I haven't heard of anything in China...

that's good. if these batteries are anything like my phones they should be pretty damn reliable
