New To The Board, Hello!
Hello! New here, picked up a bright yellow '17 1LE first of November from Automation in NW Phoenix. Great place to do business with. Mario Gomez was exceptional, courteous, and sincere.
Formerly a 4th gen guy, '96 and '97 Z28, 2002 Firehawk #0140 (see at firehawk************* or something like that). Never should have sold it... Really like the tech and performance in the 6th gen. Poked and stroked the 97Z to a 396 with (Gallant Technical Performance, Craig Gallant, Houston) GTP heads and GTP 6 cam to get this kind of power! Custom tune on Ed's dyno in Tulsa, OK. The sound through those long tubes and SLP 2OTL was something to behold...then got hit head on in San Antonio, totaled the car. Air bag turned my nasal septum into the shape of a "C", but that's the way it goes...then picked up the 'hawk. 'Hawk did a Thunder Racing 222/222 @114, long tubes !cats, sims SLP Dual Dual to get 375/375 to the wheels. A lot has changed. Have enjoyed reading posts, chuckle a bit as the questions and answers are very similar to what we did 15+ years ago. 3,200 miles thus far, no issues. No catch can (been there, done that...), changed oil and eLSD (some FOD on fill/drain, not bad). Doing !CAGS today. Dealer tossed in yellow door panel inserts, but I'm not installing myself after reading instructions. Good grief. I break things. I'd like to find (help...) the smoked tail lights but I don't want to pay the $400's or so people are asking. Ridiculous. Neighbor has a ZL1 1LE and those side skirts will go on my car too, so looking at options. Saw AC Composites and another at what, Anderson? Again, open to input. Guy on here with the black 1LE in Missouri, I think. Lift in his garage, boat. Slick setup. Like the way his car looks. Cheers! Post was too long, enough! Chris. Firehawk registry dot org. I believe. Upper 70's today. Only out to do !CAGS on base on lift. More difficult than previous ones what with the lines in the way. All good.
At least you've fresh seafood...cheers. |

Congrats and welcome. Wish I could have found a 1LE in bright yellow but had to settle for Summitt White which does look great. Goodluck on the smoked and clear lights under 400.00 unless you tint them which I don't like as well but that's just me.

Worth effort. Originally wanted a white '18 but local dealer went from 41 to 43. Wouldn't deal. Still have pics in phone after test drive. Deal was on the yellow and not local, grew on me. Can't go wrong with a white car, in my experience. Best to ya.

Very cool! If pic is at stealer ship, looks to be about where mine was. I'm out in Rita Ranch. Maybe we can link up at some point.

I'm out towards the Tucson mountains. Do you plan on going to any road courses? I've been going to NASA track events. However, due to my work schedule, I won't be able to make the January and February events.
There's a Tucson Amaro Club, but I haven't made it out to any events. |

Trying to fined GM OEM ZL1 1LE side sills to put on my car (they have a lip that wraps around to just inside the quarters, so to me, it looks better, fitment is cleaner) is proving to be incredibly impossible...
I like the ACS? Composites, Canada place, but they don't wrap around either, they just stop flush prior to the quarter. Unless your car is black...that yellow poking out there would not look "clean" Chris |

I have the OEM ZL1 rockers on my 1LE and absolutely love them! There are a few things though, they come unpainted and you have to get the bottom painted Satin Black and the top portion paint matched to your car so Yellow in your case. Also they are for the ZL1 so they don't line up 100% on an SS, they either require a spacer at the bottom of the front fender or to pull the skirt in farther, you can do it either way and it's really not that hard to get right. Totally worth it in my opinion, the skirts themselves can be had for under $450 and then of course you have to have them painted but you should be able to get it all for under $1000, and they look way cleaner than the aftermarket ones. I can get you some pictures after I get off work, and if you have any questions I should be able to help.
