From this gallery of 45 photos:

Stop and think for a minute what life would be like on a motorbike instead of your thunderous Chevy V8 car.

You have a collection of some incredible photos in here... I went and looked at quite a few of the galleries... Nice work...

Brings back a lot of memories, thanks for sharing! I went to Ho Chi Minh City as a small prepositioned team supporting Air Force air flow for President Clinton's visit in 2000. I recall everyone having a job, the scooters, sights, sounds and smells. We affectionately nicknamed the market downtown "The Dammit". We would go to just look, or to get some food, but would leave with something under our arm and cursing under our breath "dammit". We did a tour of the Ho Chi Minh trail, and saw a few Buddhist temples. I befriended a girl there, and she was like my own tour guide. Last night there we had a late night dinner over looking the Saigon Embassy, did night city tour, I nearly missed the morning show time the next morning back at the hotel for my departure. On top of that, we also had a few days off in Hawaii on the way back to the States.

I could live there... the food, the people, scooters, simple living... one thing I loved about SW Houston, Bellaire/Beechnut area by the tollway... great area for Asian culture/cuisine... back in the 90's, it started to turn, after Auchan's closed.

I live close to that area. It is is fully developed now with dozens of Asian restaurants. Downtown there is an area with street signs in Vietnamese.

I used to frequent Diho Market and pick up my noodles, nem nuong, sushi nori, li hing mui and lemon seed, and Pocky for my daughters... eat lunch at Pho Bang, Lai Lai Dumpling House, Chinese Cafe, and Genghis Khan... good memories. I'm sure Marvin Zindler made a few visits around there as well...

I used to work in Westchase... and off SW Fwry @ Arena Towers. Lived off Wilcrest and Beechnut (Concho) in the 80's.

Sounds like Asian food makes a regular appearance at your table. I have to cruise my SS down Bellaire on Thursday. Perhaps make a Pho stop.

The upside is the women there seem alot slimmer in general compared to American women.

Oh did I say that out loud?

Yeah... I lived in Hawaii for 8 years, and enjoy Asian cuisine and culture lot. I grew up watching a lot of Japanese anime and manga TV series on PBS there... Kamen Rider, Rainbow Man, Ultra Man... then got hooked on Monty Python and Dr. Who as well.

Thanks for the photo's ron scubadiver.
I have not been there since march 30 1969.
Saigon used to be called the Paris of the orient.
Thanks for the memories:-)
