Ford announced today dropping V6 for Mustang

Well, some foreshadowing from Ford, it was announced today they are dropping the V6 Mustangs for 2018. So now the GT guys can really bitch to the 4 cylinder EcoBoost owners, 'Why didn't you get a V8?' There will be no more V6 owners to rag on.

So in monkey see, monkey do Chevy world, I guess they'll gauge if V6's sales go up or drop the V6s too. I think it would foolish to give prospective buyers 2 choices so far apart. I'm not sure of the difference in price, but it would be significant.

That makes me love my 2013 LT Vert even more.

v6 model only had an epic plummet because they didn't make a premium model
this was not by accident

Dumb decision on Fords part. I would have gotten a v6 before a Turbo 4. Who wants a Mustang that sounds like a Honda Civic can of bees?

Stuff a V8 in every Camaro produced.
Problem solved.

It will give prospective v6 owners more MPG to be happy with.

Hahaha.... no more pedestrian jokes

Adaptive radar cruise control returns, plus a new camera-based lane-keeping assist and pedestrian-detecting automatic braking system.

In addition to making the Mustang look even worse than they had it? I'm sure sales will be effected appropriately.

Probably based on fleet sales. More 4 cyl. Being sold so they stick with what sells

You do know that the V6 was their fleet model and also had a lower HP output than the ECOBOOST 4.

If Chevy were to follow suit they would be dumping the Turbo 4.

They didn't want the V6 anyways, which is why it had so few options. Ford wanted it to be Ecoboost and 5.0 but the rental companies prefer n/a cars, so the V6 was kept around for them. I guess Ford got fed up with it or sales dropped of, so they dumped it.

The V6 and the 4 banger were pretty much redundant. It wasn't like one was better than the other.

Ecoboost 4 has 300HP, V6 has 310

Maybe for some fleets but for Enterprise(from what I've seen) most Mustangs are turbos. Camaros on the other hand are strictly 6 cylinder.

Really sucks for anyone that just wants a base Mustang without spending a lot. The ecoboost option is around $2k more I think and I doubt they're going to keep the new standard ecoboost the same as what the standard V6 was. Not to mention it's another system in the car you have to worry about running into problems with.
