Backfire possible on 2013 V6 Camaro

Hey guys so I've been thinking about trying to get my car to backfire whenever I downshift through the tapshifts. I have nothing engine wise modded. Only thing I have done exhaust wise is mufflers removed and I believe my resonators are removed as well! I want like loud pops and a couple of my friends told me to remove my cats and it will pop like crazy! Is this true or what do you guys recommend?

Backfire is the result of unburnt fuel in the exhaust detonating. Best bet is to get the exhaust as free flowing as possible and have the car run 'rich'.

You think possibly removing both cats would give the exhaust just enough "richness" to backfire? This is what people have been telling me

If you do that, and lose your resonator, it might. Doubt it will sound good, though.

I actually jumped a couple of times because it was TOO LOUD at times! I also had the Vitesse Throttle Controller installed and had her at SP9 which also helped with the pops! I would give her gas until about 2500 to 3000 rpms then let it go and it would pop so damn loud hahaha!

If you do a complete cat-delete you MIGHT be able to backfire. But you might need a TUNE to get that backfire crap to happen more often!

To me, this sounds like crap (not my car) but they had a tune on theirs to make it backfire.

Which cats did you remove, the two front or the two rear ones?

I think the OP must be referring to the un-burnt gasses when decelerating like Dizzy explains. A true "back fire" is when a intake valve is open at the time of ignition, either from improper cam timing, burnt or bent valve, etc. that would allow for incoming fuel to be ignited back through the intake manifold. Never a good idea.

What creative dawn posted does seem as close to what I am looking for if that can possibly work while downshifting to sound like that works perfect for me because I think you can make that kind of backfire louder itself depend on your downshifts
