Buy or Pass?
Hey everyone, I've been in the market for a Mazda 3. I found an s Grand Touring model with 7300 miles on it for $13,000 which is extremely cheap. The car has a rebuilt title and there wasn't any damage to the frame, transmission, or engine according to the owner. I was thinking of checking it out in person, but I would like to get a few opinions.

I wouldn't. I wouldn't get one unless it was a hatch either, but that's just me.

The deal sounds kind of sketchy, but that's because of the title situation. I do have pictures of the car before it was fixed and I can't seem to figure out why it was deemed a salvage. Only the front bumper and driver side fender were damaged.

PASS...the reason it's cheap is because branded as a rebuild it will only sell for cheap for the rest of its life.

I'm not worried about the price of the car in the future since it will be my dd. The only thing that concerns me is hidden damage from the accident. I appreciate all of your opinions and I can why I should run from it, but the deal sounds too good. I have some pictures if that changes anyone's mind. It's fixed now, but the damage didn't look severe.

If you're going to buy it to run into the ground and then scrap it or for a winter beater, that's the only way I would touch it. Take it to your own mechanic and have it checked also. I bought a flood salvage title once for a beater and got my moneys worth but I only paid $3500

I currently have a 2013 Dart that I could sell and probably get enough just to buy the Mazda which is why I'm considering this. I don't know if it's worth it because my Dart has already had a lot of warranty problems, but it drives fine now. Also, the Mazda doesn't have a warranty anymore, but it's basically new.

There's a reason it has a "salvage title", what you don't know is why it has one.

This is very true. I wish I knew why it had a reconstructed title. The owner clarified that her husband is a mechanic and that any other mechanic would agree the car is in good condition. They also purchased the car from an auction and then fixed it.
