Hrmmm 33K and thats only for a few states at that. I could just about make a round trip to work on just battery but it would probably still need the engine for atleast one of my jobs lol.

It would be cool going weeks without filling up but also would be a boring car and in Ohio we have hills which isnt good for electricity going up them lol.

Forgot about the rebate

There are a lot of older, fun, cigarette fetchers for short hauls.

I read earlier today that the Volt would be priced at $41K. A bit pricey for sure, but as demand for alternative fuel vehicles rise the costs should come down. It is always the curse of the early adopter to pay more than those that come along later.

From what i read its 41K but then you get like 7500 off because of the government eco bonus thing and its the only hybrid that can run on full battery for 40 miles and then up to 300 on a gas engine. The leaf is a few thousand cheaper but only battery ran.

I didn't know the Leaf could get up to 100 miles. Not bad.

That is cool but with no gas engine thats about max miles per day. From a normal outlet probably takes like 8hrs to charge or more but with a heavy duty maybe 220 you might be able to do it in 4-6hrs. Kinda sucks that if you forget you'll be screwed or if the power goes out you arent going anywhere unless you Flintstone your way there.

As a purely conventional car, it might cost about 20k. Thats before you add any of its advanced drivetrain bits. Add in the fact that the batteries cost about $15k on they're own, then the rest of the hybrid drive train and $41k makes perfect sense.

And when thinking about the cost, keep in mind that the cost of powering the Volt is significantly less than every non-EV on the road.

That $7500 is a tax credit not a rebate.

I wouldn't spend 20k on a volt, let alone 41k.
