The power of music...

After having a horribly rotten day yesterday, driving home from work I put on freebird.

That song works wonders...

feeling much better now.

For me its Paradise City, or Sweet Home Alabama. When either one comes on I instantly forget about anything bad that I might have been thinking about.

Great great song, but it reminds me of my maternal grandmother, so it doesn't quite have the same positive affect that it used to.

One of the most emotional experiences I've had with music was when we were 2 days from coming home from my first ever 6-month deployment on my Destroyer. The crew was all outside because we could see the east coast (and the first land in two weeks or so) and knew we were almost home....so lots of men are on the flight deck of this little destroyer and suddenly they play "Mama I'm coming home" by Ozzy...there was hardly a dry eye from most of the younger crew members (those of us on our first deployment), and some of the older folks.
