Car Hacking Forces Recall

Hey GM, please hear us when we say that under no circumstances should the CPU be directly controllable (read/write) from the internet.

This is a very special kind of stupid!

Anything "connected" to the internet is hackable.

Elon Musk should be talking about how it's too dangerous for people to drive themselves now.

Just think, with a couple of go pros and your playstation, you could pick your kids up from school and never leave the house.

Send you car to get you a burger and fries, pick up your dry cleaning.

All joking aside, this is a very serious issue.

I can see it now....The latest excuse for causing an accident: "It wasn't me...The car had a mind of it's own....Someone must have hacked into my car...."....

Watch the videos of cars that will go park themselves, and then return when you call it. The technology will soon be here for cars to be completely autonomous and connected to the net at the same time. Security can never be 100%, so just wait until all of these cars decide to drive into the nearest bridge abutment. The glories of the Google car seem to be fading.

Within the next year or so there will be "Car Data Plans" available from providers. This connectivity is a two way highway (pun intended) however, with connectivity providers deciding to "advertise in your face up front" that they plan on selling all data they can take from your car without opting out.
