4 people killed in Illegal Drag/Street Race..

http://www.wral.com/driver-charged-w...road/14769642/

What a shame. Very small community near where I live. I didn't know any involved, but I'm sure the drivers probably knew the victims. Why would anyone watching a street race stand on the side lines??

Take it to the tracks people.....

If you are going to line the drag strip that's the chance you take. I'm sure I'll get bashed for not being politically correct here, but guess what? Those spectors were all taking part of this illegal act and we're all adults. It's sad, but ultimately it's their own fault. This is one of the reasons that street racing is illegal. People aren't smart enough to figure out safety issues on their own without having some sanctioning body to do it for them.

I have property in Nash County- not far from there. Small world...
Street racing is unbelievably stupid. Standing around where amateurs with NO training or thoughts of safety are driving their cars far beyond their capability is not a smart thing to do.

OK, folks.....they WERE NOT "drag racing", they were illegally STREET RACING.

Drag racing takes place at a track. It's legal, safe and fun.

Street racing is what we have here. Everyone needs to get the nomenclature right, and encourage the media to do the same.

This type of generalization give drag racers a bad name.

This article got it right! Kudos to the reporter. NC Folks know their racing!

Most people consider "drag" racing as 1/4 mile straight line style racing- whether on track or not. It's best that the legal "real" racers claim their terminology to try to educate the public, as you are doing.
Seems that the "Racers Against Street Racing" never really got moving, but when it started it seemed like a decent organization.
Next person that refers to his car as a race car and it's never been through a tech inspection is going to get bitch slapped.

Just plain stupid by all parties, why people street race is beyond me the risk you take placing yourself in danger as well as other drivers is beyond me, for me it's all about crusing.

you can drag race on a street, illegally. you can also race on a street with turns, like on the freeway. So people say drag race so people know what kind of racing they were doing. if you just say street racing, you don't know if it was a straight line or otherwise. Not that it really matters, any racing on public streets is wrong and illegal. But "drag racing" doesn't mean it is done on a track.

Okay Mr. Politically correct nice try ,but your wrong. What the hell does it matter anyhow what you call it? I never heard anyone back in my day say hey let go out to the double bridges and street race. We all called it drag racing because that's what it is when two cars line up side by side and race to a fixed point in a straight line to see who gets there first. The definition doesn't change just because it happens on the street. Oh and by the way, dracing was born out of the street. Not the other way around.
