Where is mileage data stored on the 2014 Cruze?

Wondering if anyone knows where the mileage data is stored on the Cruze, friend is in a lease and trying to get out of their over miles by changing the dash, and I told them it wont work

Your response and assessment of your friend are spot on.

Your friend is a dope! Ditch him ASAP!

Friend 1: "Hey man, I heard you just leased a new car?".

Friend 2: "Yea, I got a 12,000 mile/yr. lease to keep the payments down even though I drive 25,000 miles per year.".

Friend 1: "Do you have a fully functional brain?".

I heard if you place magnets above the odometer, it will reverse the mileage..Ha.I'm pretty sure.it's illegal reference fraud..or are those Brett Favre elbow magnets..
