Somebody please explain this....

Had a F-150 Eco-boost in the shop this morning and noticed this little baffle on the plastic piping going from the air box to the turbo. Can anyone explain what this does and why it's shaped the way it's shaped?

I figured maybe a Chevy guy was working for ford in the design department...

That's the air box penis. Strange that it's so long on a Ford.

It's just manufacturers trying to quiet every vehicle down. Sound deadening ways etc...

It's a hose connection that was deleted, but they didn't retool the tube, just eliminated the step that cut off the end to open it up.

It must be a newer model. The one on my 2011 is much bigger.
