Why is EVERYTHING so stupid?

Do you ever ask yourself this question?
Does it seem as though the world around is getting dumber, and you are the only one who notices?

Case in point: Time Magazine announced their Person Of The Year today.
Ebola Fighters. Yay, hooray! They deserve it... Wait! Fighters is plural, not singular, it should be "People," not "Person"....

It may seem like I am nitpicking, but look at like this:
Time Magazine is well respected, not some hack-wit fly-by-night operation.
In order to get a job there, you would have to be a decent writer.
Also, you would most likely have to have a degree.
If you have a degree, you would have to pass English 101.
If you passed English 101, you would understand how truly awful this cover is.

Additionally, there are editors, who should have caught this
There are graphics techs who should have caught this.

Furthermore, print media is a throw back, it is dying, being replaced by digital formats. When your product is facing extinction, you should be extra careful not to make dumba$$ mistakes like this, especially not on the cover.

I am not criticizing the Ebola fighters, or anyone touched by such a horrible, and gross, disease.
I am commenting on the death of grammar, syntax, and common sense.
William Shakespeare is rolling over in his grave.

That's better than some of the other choices that were up for consideration. My position is that the vast majority of people are too stupid to breathe and walk at the same time. It's just that technology makes the world smaller so it's more noticeable. One good solar fart could fix that, though.

I think Gruber was on to something. Truth hurts sometimes.

The other group that they considered for "POY" was a bunch of protesters in the Midwest. REALLY? Which ones? The real protesters or the ones that was just looking for an excuse to behave like retarded ass-clowns?

Yes...it's about Time....to move on and discard that rag of crap. They have some smart but yet, goofy people that make decisions at that mag.

Other great picks by TIME magazine:

1938 Adolf Hitler
1939 Joseph Stalin
1942 Stalin again
1957 Nikita Khrushchev
2007 Vladimir Putin

Not the first time they chose a group of people as the "person" of the year either.

You forgot a few:
Lyndon B. Johnson, 1964,1967 almost single handedly got the US into the Vietnam War
Richard Nixon, 1971 started the war on drugs (EPIC FAIL) also helped usher the US into Capitalized Medicine
American Women, 1975, again, the issue of plurality vs. singular
Ayatollah Khomeni, 1979, do I really need an explanation?
The Computer, 1982, not even a specific model, just "The Computer"

Then, proving my point, in 1988, they chose The Endangered Earth, but as Planet of the Year, not person, but planet.

1995, belongs to Newt Gingrich. Sigh....
2004, George W. Bush, now if this was awarded for making up words, then it is wholeheartedly deserved.

2011, The Protester, again reaffirming my point that someone at Time Magazine understands the difference between the terms plural and singular.

If this can't be figured out with less than two minutes of logical thought, then, well, you're speaking of yourself in your title.

I think in 06 Time names everyone in the world "person of the year." You should also include Obama awarding himself the Nobel Prize...

This may also help you better understand the world we are living in now. If you haven't seen the movie Idiocracy I highly recommend it. It's basically a documentary, but for the future...

Actually, the word "everything" is all encompassing, regardless of the amount time spent, or amount of logical thought put in.

You are making the assumption that I was not including myself in the title.

I wish I was stupid. I really do. If I were, silly, trivial things such as grammatical errors on publications wouldn't bother me.

because the world has gone overboard with "political correctness" and no one wanting to be accountable for their own actions.

In the most recent news (I say that meaning over the past 25 years), apparently every one wants to forget or ignore the facts and go right to the "it wasn't his/her fault, they were innocent".

I agree with you. I also believe it to be that, as we usher in a new age of acceptance and tolerance, along racial/sexual/socio-economic lines, oftentimes weakness and stupidity are tolerated and coddled, rather than being stamped out.
