Shout out to my baby brother!

Had to share!

Off the coast of Hawaii, my brother a marine fireman and crew just rescued 3 people from a sinking sailboat in hurricane like conditions. His name is Don, and our family, (3 out of 4 boys are ff's) are so darn proud!

Yes I will! thanks forum family! I'm going to show him this thread. He's a brand new firefighter, I'm sure those 40ft waves baptized him just fine!

Awesome. Some FF work their whole career without doing something like that. Congrats. If an article pops up can you post a link? I know some guys in my Department's marine division that would like to read about that. Tell him great job. Glad to see him encouraged with a call like that early on in what can be a very challenging career.

You got it brother. I'm sure my mom will have all the info and links. He had to hope on a cargo ship because it was too far away for a helicopter. And the conditions going towards the hurricane wasn't favorable. But that's what we do! Thank you for your post!

Here's a pic of the sailboat

I'll get the full report of what happened, all I know was that he was transported to a cargo ship that met up with the sail boat.

I will tell him brother, you ever come up to Southern California, or as my mom would say, the city of little devils, I'll get you a duty shirt and a beer.

My baby brother is growing up! It feels like yesterday we we're at hooters toasting and celebrating his entry into our world... Actually it was last week! Thanks for your post!

Awesome and welcome a new one to the brotherhood. I was on the job for 25 years... Never worked in Hurricane conditions but I was involved in the Comfort flood back in 87... Bad times...

Your brother sounds like a nominee for the Benjamin Franklin award...

Thank you! And neither have I! Hopefully you're in good health and left unscathed from the job. Good to know that we have our family on this forum.

And SSE, I don't think it was too harrowing, I'm sure he wasn't in real danger but I don't know the details. What I do know is that he has dishes to wash when he gets back.
