Classics making me pause on an 2010 purchase
The wife has wanted a 2010 camaro every since she saw a yellow transformer packaged one on this site. so I have been looking around and waiting for local dealers to get their head outta there arses. Besides dealer markups however, I just cant seem to pull the trigger on a new one when just beautiful classics are being sold like these below for the price of a v6 2010 model. Check out these two beauts and tell me they wouldnt make you second guess a new car purchase.

Tell her that the 69 will be worth quite a bit down the road. The 10' SS will do nothing but lose value.

If I had to choose between the three, I'd leave out the 1st Gen Camaro....unless you want a show car. Look at the tubbed wheels. That looks more like a monster than an every day driver.
The 69 Chevelle would be a perfect addition and I'd drive it every single day. THAT is one car that has been on my wish list for YEARS. LOVE IT. The 2010 Camaro is one car that you KNOW won't have issues...has a warranty, and has all the amenities of an up to date musclecar. Tough choice. Chevelle or the 2010. Both, you can't go wrong with. |

Cars may not be a "investment" per say, but I have not seen one classic lose its value. I have only seen them rise in value. I say the 69' SS. Then again, I want to build a 69' SS. Black with white racing stripes.

Classics that are stock have potential to bring big money. These cars especially that
Camaro are not even close to stock and that is why these cars are going for this low of price. |

You can believe what you want. Stock is where the money is at. I'm not saying there are not exceptions to this rule, but in general people want those old cars stock. Watch Barret Jackson auctions. The farther from stock the lower the price.

I already know that stock cars go for higher prices, but non stock cars can go for just as high. You missed my point by a mile buddy.

While I love the first gens as much as anyone (I have a 68), if the Camaro is going to be your daily driver, I would opt for the 2010. Obviously, the new car has all the modern safety features, is better on gas (the 68 is a gas guzzler) and the old one will always, always need work. It's a 40 year old car, so sinking money into it is a given.
If you're buying a weekend driver, a classic may be the way to go!

Yeah the 1st gen camaro would be completely out of the question since we dont have a track here on oahu anymore. But as far as that Chevelle goes its pretty prestine. As far as problems with cars goes though at least in my case/experience every old car or atleast older tech car I have owned never let me down. Now I hate to say this but every car I have purchased since 2000 has turned out to be a pain in the arse except for my dale jr monte. Creature comfort being concidered no classic can compare to a modern vehicle and that goes for gas as well. Although for me I could care less how much gas cost lol. My 88 caprice got a whopping 8mpg (highly modified 350 with giggle gas).
Neither of these are garage queens and never will be without matching number motors/etc. However that is something I hav never wanted anyway. To me a car is ment to be driven and if I cant drive it without worring too much then whats the point. My uncle drive's his 72 challenger everyday and races every other weekend on the original 318 motor. Of course he has had to maintain and refresh a couple parts but then again the odo has rolled over twice lol. But then again the new camaro is sexy as hell lol. But as soon as I got one I would be changing stuff up. So either way I go I could end up sinking money into em... And once it gets modified there goes the warranty lol. Decisions, Decisions. |
