odd carfax/history question

I'm looking into a certified used car and the carfax has nothing on it as far as repair history. No oil changes or anything is listed and the car has 30k on it. Is there a way to be sure all the recommended maintenance was done?

(non-lease car btw)

No those reports rely on the accuracy of the input. It could have been do it yourself. It doesn't mean zero maintenance..

I'm the original owner of a 2004 GTO that I've done 100% maintenance and repairs. Fluids, brakes, clutch, struts, etc. The Carfax show zero but I have an extensive log documenting everything. That could be the case with the car you're considering but there should be an ownership history with some type of ducumtation regarding what was done and when

unfortunately, when it's a dealer, you rarely get any documentation that a previous owner could have supplied. Even if there was any documentation included with the car, they'll probably toss it during the inspection/cleanup. Also, I tried getting information (or atleast asked them to pass my info to the previous owner in my case) from the previous owner and got a big fat NO from a local dealer here.

I like the OP's idea here. A lightly used CTS V would be a sweet DD. I'd prefer a one owner private sale. Even if I had to go out of State to get it

Thanks for the input everyone. The car looks maintained, I'm probably overthinking it. PLus the powertrain is guaranteed to 100k being certified. Thanks all!
