What was your first car?
I searched and didn't find anything on this one, believe it or not. Knowing my luck there's probably already a thread, but if there is, my bad.
So, what was your first car and when did you get it? What are some awesome memories you have with it? Mine was a '94 Jeep Wrangler and I got it in November '05. The way the heater drained out water was a rubber hose that ran right near the engine and always got sealed shut by the heat, so whenever it rained, you'd just see water start spurting out of the defroster or you'd take a corner and have like a gallon of water pour out all over your feet. Totally sucked then, but kinda funny to think back on now.

'99 Buick Century. Had a leaky sunroof and overheated regularly. Got it in '04 for $4000, flipped it three years later and got $6500 back for it. Go figure.

My first car was a '97 Pontiac Sunfire Coupe. I bought it for $1,700 August of last year, and my parents sold it for $200 in March of this year.
It had a piston rod knocking, and needed a new motor. Instead of letting me buy a new motor off of eBay ($400), and letting me and a friend of mine go about 40 miles away to pick it up ($50) and having my school shop teacher swap the motors ($250), my parent decided to sell it. I had the money saved up, and was ready to buy it. I came home from school one day (the car had been sitting for a week or so, because Dad didnt want me to drive it, because he was afraid of me blowing the motor, so I had to ride the bus), and there were 2 dudes loading my pride and joy onto a flat bed (a picture of what I saw is attached below). I was confused. I had no clue about plans to sell it. When they told me they sold it for only $200 (that they kept) I was ticked. The money I had saved up to do the motor swap and such, went into the cost of buying the New Yorker I drive now (which was $1000). I guess they didnt realize that it would have been cheaper to just let go through with my plan. If they did realize it, they wouldn't be shelling out money to fix this one up (over $3500 so far [new tranny, new brakes, new radiator, new exhaust system, new hood supports, and soon another set of brakes]). I miss my Sunfire Last edited by Camaro Lives On; 07-12-2009 at 08:56 PM. |

1978 Green Plymouth Caravelle. I drove the crap out of that thing for 5 years. I never changed oil or any fluids. ran tires till they were bald. By the time it finally died I had every light on the dashboard on and it STILL started on cold days.

I was fifteen when I got my first car - I worked for a guy that was in a divorce. He said can you come over and clean my yard up and cut the lawn. So I did - I spent three days at his house. When I got done he said I can give you the money or have my wifes car. I said what about your wife he said shes got anew one. I went to the garage and he opened it - Guess what kinda car was it was?????
It was a 70 Chevelle SS 396 - Strait body needed paint no rust and a blown engine. Two months and hiding it from my parents and money to fix it WOW !!! I parked it up the street for five months till I turned 16 and brought it home. My dad was like " Hey I seen this car up the street". I said nooo Dad it was a different car. LIL
