Can you believe some people?

The other day, I was driving with my friend in my friend's mercedes convertible (SL600, it was his gift for getting into a good college... A little ridiculous, maybe, but he appreciates it, so I don't see a problem with him having it if his parents can afford it, and they can), and this guy in a C300 is about 40 feet behind us in the left lane. We just put on out left blinker -- NO lateral movement. Still perfectly in our right lane, which was ending soon -- and this guy in his low-end mercedes speeds up into our blind spot and lays on the horn! Not like a S550 doing this, this guys care could have been a $33K car and he's this crazy about the name! He runs us all the way to the end of the lane, so we need to slam on our breaks, because of his road rage. When we get to the parking lot, we see him parking and getting out. This guy looks like that was his mid-life crisis car or a retirement gift to himself. The guy runs to our car and starts swearing at me. I happen to love trash-talking, so I chirp the guy a few times, and after I insulted him a little bit, I see him walking away saying "Irresponsible kids shouldn't have a ****ing mercedes!" This guy was ridiculous and it was all because someone with the resources was actually having fun. We see where he's parked, and he's in the back of a lot where no one can park next to him. We parked very, very close to his car, because that would clearly piss him off. When we come back, I see his car pulling away, and there's a line of cars that formed when we parked there (mission accomplished, I guess, with the whole parking thing... heh heh)... We get to my friends car, and that old guy had keyed it several times. Thank God I anticipated something like this and got the guys plate number, because this guy was a pr!ck. I don't see how people can be like that! I guess I'll stick with camaros, because you guys appreciate everyone that gets to experience the same car as yourselves!

that sucks that his car got keyed and it was good of you to catch the plate no. but, no offense, that's a pretty hard thing to prove even with the circumstances surrounding it- especially since you have no witnesses to corroborate, chances are the cops might intimidate the guy but nothing will come of it unless he admits it.

Also, I'm pretty sure it wasn't as innocent and one-sided as you made it sound- it's possible, but not likely. A word of advice is to never play into it the way the both of you did, you realize that guy was having a bad day and was stressed out and instead of avoiding him you played right into his low energy and look what happened. Next time you can acknowledge the jerks on the road without having to stoop down to their level, everything comes back to you sooner or later and that 'guy having a mid-life crisis' may just be you one day.

Yeah, I am somewhat responsible. When he came running over to try to start something, it probably would have been best to just keep my mouth shut, but I guess he just got in my head... I'm working on contacting the people at that mall, because there were cameras all over that parking lot, chances are they have something to go on... If not, maybe the fact that someone took his plate number and was smart enough to do something will change him around a little... We did fall into his trap, though.
