Ouch, cars are never the same in my heart after damage and the repairs. They were lucky it wasn't a busy intersection as he was pushed into it and could have easily been t-boned. In slowmo you can see the srt8 driver whipped back in his seat for some extra excitement.

BWAHAHAHA!

All these years later and my sister-in-law never gets to live this down. I was sad to see a nice 392 like that get totalled, but the fact that I get to give her s**t til the end of time is priceless. I think subconciouly she has something against pony cars. She's also backed up into my old '96 Mustang AND my '98 Cobra.

I now no longer allow her to park on the same side of the street as me if she comes over to my house.

So sad to see, I think I'd have to be restrained if that were me.

Car was totalled. He got a new one a week or two later. I bet I was more upset about an inaugural edition 392 getting "destroyed" than even he was. But he didn't pay for it anyway. It was his HS graduation gift. His friends were filming for his "senior video" when the incident took place.

I wonder what became of the drivetrain, seeing as he didn't buy it back.

It amazes me that they will total a car for a hit like that. I obviously did not see it in person, but it did not look bad enough not to fix from the video clip. The pic below is my brothers 2003 ZO6. He did this after 9 days and 200 miles. Damage was just over $37k and they still fixed it. He was furious they did not total it.

One of the perils of buying an expensive car. If your car is worth 70k, the insurance company can fix just about anything that was damaged for less money (unless your frame is damaged beyond safe repair). The Z06 obviously has heavy front damage, but it looks like the overall structure is still intact.

You'd basically have to wrap it around something to get insurance to total it.
