Track Tips? (before taking an Exotic car on the Track?)

So I may have the opportunity to take a GTR, Lambo, or Ferrari around the track when it gets warmer.

Does anyone have any track tips?

or what misconceptions they have come across? or anything they care to share in terms of knowledge?

Yeah, keep the rubber side down and on the paved bits of the track.

Honestly, if you've never been on a track and your first time out is going to be in an exotic, you better have one hell of a teacher riding along and you better take it as slow as possible or you're going to be off the track backwards in no time at all.

Good luck, and I hope your insurance and the exotic owner's insurance are all paid up...

Experienced racers are all about the Line. If they get off the Line, they slow and get back on it. Skooter is on track here...somebody needs to show you the correct way to do it.

Do a couple of HPDE days with an instructor. Things you do on the road are often the last thing you want to do on the track.

This! If the track is prepped correctly, what you do on the road will have very different consequences when done on a track...

I've driven a F430 and a Gallardo on the track mulitple times. I very strongly suspect there will be an instructor with you in the car at all times showing you technique, but here's what I think is most important for someone who is less experienced:

1. Brake early, hard, and in a straight line.

2. Accelerate in a straight line.

3. Be smooth with all your inputs.

Try not to race the guy in front of you or try to "be quick." Just take it at your own pace.

Excellent advice. I'd add one more thing to the short list -

4. If you are going to miss an apex, make sure you late apex instead of early apex. Late apex means lost time where an early apex can cause you to run out of track on the corner exit!

I chose a Lambo, awesome car but I think I would have enjoyed the ferrari more. It honestly didnt seem to handle much better than our Super sports. The GTR kinda drives itself so I think you should definitely opt for the Ferrari.
