2013 Viper 1/4 mile testing.

Looks like Dodge (SRT) was testing the launch control on the new Viper. I cant tell but it looks like they threw some drag radials on it also. Not 100% for sure though. Looks to be an easy mid 10 second car at quite a bit over 130 mph with a good launch and right conditions.

Yeah, that's cool...if it could only beat a 5 year old Corvette at the track, it would actually be kinda cool.

Ohhhh but the "T/A" Viper beat the old ZR1 by .08 seconds during the second Viper vs ZR1 test!!! Whoooppeeeee. LOL

The new Viper is nice and all but when the new ZR1 comes out, its over for the Viper. The new Viper will run pretty decent times in the 1/4 mile though.

Viper is more of a niche car than even the Corvette. Eccentric is how I describe them.

Yeah, barely. If they're going to price it as high as they did, they should at least make sure it beats cars in the same price range that are at the end of their product cycle.

I'm with Deki on this, the new Viper should set the bar for the competition, not match what is out there. Buyers in this price range are not out to buy almost as good, they want the best.

The Viper is a complete disappointment. It needs an optional package to beat a 4 year old car by less than a second. The new ZR1 will destroy this thing, hell, the Z06/Z07 will probably destroy this thing.

it is a back an forth, you realize when the ZR1 came out, it was 2 seconds slower than the 08 Viper SRT, based on a Viper that came out in 03, then Chevy threw some near race slicks on the ZR1 and ONLY then was it able to beat that Viper time. Considering the Viper is already of the current ZR1 and the NEW ZR1 was 2 seconds behind the old ACR for 4 years, well.............. Also the Viper GTS they got the 2 second slower time from was a preproduction model, the same mag then got 2 production Vipers, Base no track pack, and GTS with Track Pak and neither was more than a second slower than the ZR1. Then the (preproduction) TA has already beat it. The new Viper is just getting started I am sure. As with previous gens we will see improvements every year so the next ZR1 is not a shoe in as the Viper is still being diaed in. I am sure with the C7 hitting the ground and both cars seemingly hitting the ground hard (both obliterate the times of considerably more expensive exotics already) it is going to be a great and epic fight that we all win and that will send prancing horses and ranging bulls back to the drawing board.

See my reply above, when the 09 ZR1 came out it got busted be 2 seconds by the last gen Viper, it only got saved by some amazing tires.

What? The Viper has a naturally aspirated V10. It was designed for the track and the Nurburgring lap times show it runs rings around the ZR1. I would expect a supercharged V8 to beat the V10 at the strip, due to the low end torque of a blown engine. Who cares? Naturally aspirated V10 > supercharged V8.
